    yep that is right but the best deal on them old casting and labor still going to go past a set of new iron head casting for what i can get them for and the new heads still will out flow them . i know what your trying to do but ? them guys in the 60/mild 80 would of pick up better heads if they were available have seen many rework hi winder sbc heads that had much $$ done to them . valve train going to 7800 is no place to go cheap

    Been interested in the topic. My older brother had a Camero SS when I got back from the service in '70. It had a 4-speed and a really hot motor. He said that he had to order the motor separate from the car, because Chevrolet wasn't allowed to put that particular motor in the car at the factory, BUT that the dealership could pull the factory-installed motor and drop this motor in if he ordered it. He did. He said that it was a special 302 CI called a "Cimarron". There was no question that it was "hot" for its time.

    Can anybody verify this? I've talked to a lot of Chevy guys and only have had one to even seem to know what I was talking about.

    As a side note, I thought I was going to die just a mile from the house, riding with him in this SS after spending a year in the "land of the Jolly Green". That was the last time I rode with him.

    yes i know but i have used over 30+ set a of the china rods in race engines and they have not failed from the steel. but if you have the bucks it nice to have crower or any usa rods but they are to selling import steel rods to

    that is true and i have been told there is alot of stuff past off as usa steel but they do not say were it is forged at?????

    well ill still never use the crap, after i saw a guy break a scrat crank in 3 places in a 406 it didnt exactly impress me

    well have you seen stock steel break i have seen 3000 dollar crank s that were junk who balanced it ? so he busted one ? i have a customer that has a 548 shift s at 8000 with a scat crank and have sold and used more of them then any thing. but like i said if you have the money then buy a great crank but they do break to. like my new used rods ???

    i have not seen a stock steel crank break yet, i seen a guy with a stroker 351 spit a piece of his crank out the pan, ive seen the guy with the 406 and a cpl others. trust me i am the one who got volunteerd for the sweep up dontcha hate that!?

    every thing will fail but i has a lot to do with who built it i have many engine that have them types of cranks out there and many more i have rebuilt it not just the cranks
