I wish that I had taken pictures of the headliner as it was being installed in the 57 Chevy so I could share them step by step. I will do that on the next one coming in.
As for door panels. There are several ways to make them. You could do they original look or you could do a custom door panel, like the ones in the 57 Chevy. I enjoy doing the custom panels. With this kind of panel you can use your imagination and make something that is one of a kind.
Custom panels are very creative. You can combine the hard look with the loose pleated look to give your panels more detail.
Stock (OEM) panels are only good if you are going for the complete original look. Custom seats generally don't look as good with OEM panels. It's one way or the other.
I am starting a 1979 Ford truck seat in a few days and I will give a step-by-step how to on this project. I hope it will give you an idea of what it takes to reupholster a seat. I will also let you know what tools are needed to complete the job. See ya soon.
