Mating it to the engine there was less than 1/2" of freeplay between the converter bolt tabs and the flex plate. Can't hurt to spin it around again.

Well my son and I spent about an hr this morning trying to get
the converter on correctly. It will go into the first click, but when
we spin converter for the 2nd click or clunk it will not engage.
Thinking about taking it to a trans shop for an opinion before
sending converter back to Summit

I'd either take it to a tranny shop or find a friend who's well versed in installing automatics. I watched this video from Monster before I did mine, Part 1 and 2 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBecwkd1rPg
