    C-6 into a 61 T-bird

I was wondering if I can replace my trashed Cruise-o-matic with a C-6 transmission in my 61 T-bird. Will I have to replace my crossmember? Can I keep my swing-away steering wheel? Will I have to alter my driveshaft? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Yes, yes, and yes....

Not too bad a job, though. Driveshaft and crossmember alterations depends on what length tailshaft and tranny mount location you have. Takes a bit of tuning on the shift linkage to keep the indicator right, then you have to remember the difference in the shift indicator from the cruizer to the C-6....

Trans mount will probably have to be moved back a couple of inches.

The flexplate will have have to be changed as will the the starter. I was going to do the swap on my 61 Bird when I did an engine swap, but sold the car before I got around to it.
I've NEVER seen a car come from the factory that couldn't be improved.....
