    That's a real nice offer ojh. I really think I may have been over engineering that base part and I think the simplified version (without welding) would work fine, but I will certainly give you a call if I can use your help.
    the longer the shift arm the thicker i would go. may bend if you speed shift it ..go 5/8 is not much you would tapper it on a lathe and cut for thread size for what ever size your shifter knob is
