fuel line routing
I am trying to get my camaro on the road but noticed that my fuel line is running kind of close to the header. How close can you get away with?

A metal line I hope??? I don't like any lines within 5" or 6" of the headers...though sometimes it's unavoidable....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

If you can't run the line elsewhere, wrap it with header wrap or other heat isolation material to prevent percolating of the fuel in the line. I have also installed aluminum heat shields between the exhaust and fuel line with success. Make the shield from two pieces with an air gap between them.

Thanks guys; The line is metal and about 3 inches from the header. The fuel line is the stock one from 84. I wonder if I would benefit from bending a new fuel line. Would a larger id line be better? I have a 80gph mechanical pump and a holley 700 on a 355.

What size is the line? If it's a 5/16" line, going to a 3/8" or even better a 1/2" aluminum line would certainly help. Fuel starvation on the big end could be a problem with a smaller line. The extra volume certainly wouldn't hurt anything.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

You can also split some rubber hose, and slip it over the line. Put a heat shield on top of that, and you have some cool fuel!.
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.

Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
