    B&M shifter problems

ive switched out my pro stick for a full rachet shifter. the rachet has only shifted maybe 20 times max, and it is stuck in 1st. the pro stick would slip into neutral if you let slightly out on the grip while going to 3rd. i thought maybe i forgot the cotter pin on the linkage, nope ther is a metal fragment stuck in the tooth to shift out of first. i hope they will take care of this,

I'll be interested in knowing if B&M helps you out.I bought my shifter from Summit. I don't like the way it shifts,it seems to hard.I greased it,but it didn't help.Mine is the Hammer model. What model are you using?I was thinking of using a shorter cable and get rid of the large loop that was required to hook it up. I was hoping after more use that it would get better.I only have 375 mi. since finishing the build.LOL

don it is the pro rachet model, when i first installed this shifter it shifted hard, the linkage arm i installed was rubbing the oblong oversized washer that is attached to the shifter rod coming out of the tranny. so i loosened the arm i installed and slid the arm further on the rod and freed it up. maybe that is your problem. well being a typical man i could not wait any longer and took a small hammer and punch to the obstruction. one very small tap and it dislodged the fragment. it apears to be a pressed in pin, stud, of some sort. if you look at one of the photos the smaller end seems to be almost hollow. dont be fooled by the picture. it is not much bigger than a pencil lead. now i just need to figure where it came from. it seems to shift fine but the peice came from the shifter, my car is too clean and the shifter is covered, for it to have came from anywhere else.

I'll give it a good coat of lithimun and hope .Did you use the long cable sent with the shifter, and could the loop be part of the problem?

Mooneye777 I'll check that washer thing and even though I bought my unit from Summit they should replace if it.Like Denny said looks like part of a rivet.

yes had the long cable, might have to trim the black sleeve back a little to give the cable a little more push n pull, where it ties into the shifter.
