Picking a muffler can kind of be a crap shoot, the same muffler can sound different in each application depending on such variables as pipe size, pipe routing, engine size, X or H pipe placement (if used ) and muffler location.
I just did a muffler change on my 57 Plymouth last weekend because I didn't care for the sound of the turbo mufflers I originally had installed. Personally I also like the sound of glasspacks on a lot of cars. On the Plymouth however I put on a pair of reproduction Chrysler Hemi mufflers, their actually pretty quiet but have a nice rumble under acceleration and nice sound at idle.
