i don't believe you want to remove the ac box to put a plug in. they are hard to get, but not impossible. i had 5 dif. 78 up el camino's that i put 454's in with ac and headers and cant remember that much problem getting the plugs out. have you tried jacking the car up and trying from the bottom. i'd rather pull the motor than the ac box.
