I'm not sure where it starts. Maybe Denny or one of the other guys knows for sure. I've always run a new 12 ga line from the switch. If you want to swap out just the underhood wire, check voltage at the HEI after the motor has been run a while just to be sure.PLANET EARTH, INSANE ASYLUM FOR THE UNIVERSE.
