I have a chevy starting solenoid ,my question is there is the B-batt terminal and a S -terminal that is the remote /starting/ wire and we have the R terminal. Is the R terminal hot when the key is in run position or only when the key is in the start position? :confused: I want to power up the hei ,if its hot key on /key off power or should I just use the original positive power that went to the old coil from inside the cab?

I'm not sure where it starts. Maybe Denny or one of the other guys knows for sure. I've always run a new 12 ga line from the switch. If you want to swap out just the underhood wire, check voltage at the HEI after the motor has been run a while just to be sure.
Thnx Tech ,I could have chased a problem like that all over the truck with new parts and still got nowhere!!!I will put that on the check list ,to make sure on the voltage.Which post on the switch would you hook the Hei power up to?

what I did on my wifes 68 mustang was to take the resister wire and used it to fire the 12volt relay and that was wired and fuse to the hot wire off the battery. been working that way for a couple of years know and I do run the 289 ford motor on a HEI unit through the ford electronic distributor and a bosh coil. on my dads '72 C10, he used an unfused ign on part of the fuse box, it had a male spade on it, he just hooked a female spade with 12ga wire on it, to the HEI, worked perfectlyQuote:
