what I did on my wifes 68 mustang was to take the resister wire and used it to fire the 12volt relay and that was wired and fuse to the hot wire off the battery. been working that way for a couple of years know and I do run the 289 ford motor on a HEI unit through the ford electronic distributor and a bosh coil.
