Here is my question – according to one of your responses it is virtually impossible to build a ground up car (cornhusker frame/Brookville body/flathead) without stamping a VIN yourself..

I have come across a 1936 NY registration for a 1932 Ford roadster – the guy is in Ca and when he bought the car it was easier to apply for a new vin rather than transfer the existing title – additionally, the car was titled with the chassis # rather than the # on the registration. Will this help me out? Should I be able to go into DMV and obtain a title in my name for a 1932 ford roadster? Thank you so much for your help.
