MEL series motor, Mercury, Edsel, Lincoln. Also T-Bird. Run an ad in Hemmings Motor News, parts for sale, would be my best guess. Was used '58 through, I believe '65, when the 462 MEL took its place....

Since that center X is there to prevent twist of the main rails I believe it's plenty stout, Navy. If anyone wants to look, show them the second side as your example!!
