1937 pontiac 4 door sedan
Can a person cut the doors to make it a 2 door? Looking to see if that is possible.
I think it's all about doing something that most don't do. Thought I would ask before I try. Just need some people with knowledge to let me know that have done this to a vehicle.

It's done quite often. Probably more work than it's worth. What's wrong with a four door???Livin' on Route 66

I just obtained it. It's going to need some work.
I'm new to this site.
Not sure if I could post a picture.
I just like the 2 doors better. I chopped the roff off of my 66 lincoln which had suicide doors, so I've already had the suicide thing if that make since.

Anything is possible. I have a 37 Cadillac sedan, similar body style. In my opinion, it would look silly if you just welded the rear doors shut or if you went through the trouble of trying to shorten the entire vehicle. However, I could envision a situation where you lengthened the front doors, chopped the top, and extended the rear quarter windows to make a longer window. Does that make sense?

I'm thinking about cutting the center of the rear door out, Taking the front part of the rear door that I cut out and putting that on the rear part of the door. Then moving the post back and taking the cut out section of the rear door and putting that in the center of the front door after cutting that in half. It wouldn't look right with a small door or making the body shorter. You are thinking just what I'm thinking. You are correct that anything is possible. I've been doing alot of dreaming. Thank you for your input.

Sounds like an interesting challenge. You might also keep an eye out for a 2 door body laying around somewhere and just swap them out. Here's one you might be able to make a low-ball offer on.....http://americandreamcars.com/1937pontiac2dr.htm:)"It is not much good thinking of a thing unless you think it out." - H.G. Wells

Thanks Randy. I've looked at alot of them. The back end ,trunk area is different. This is what I'm looking at to do. I believe he did what I want to do. I have put alot of thought into this. I love a challenge.

Style of the car is similar to the Pontiac.Remember, Freedom isn't Free, thousands have paid the price so you can enjoy what you have today.

yep seen the car here in town .on the door handles open up the door look in the door frame under the door gasket there may be a tin tab this is about were the handle would be on the out side get a big flat blade screw driver side under tab full it to you and the handle should come off

I assume it is the same as my 37 LaSalle. It should just have a square end that slides into the door hardware. I have several extra handles because somewhere along the way the ends got broken at the hole where the set screw goes in . This may be a stupid question, but did you get the set screw all the way out of the door? I only asked beause I have wrestled with those as well. Unfortunately, my best advice would be: penetrating oil, time, a little jiggling, followed by brute force.

I've always wanted a 2 door wagon. Great looking project. Thanks for sharing it with me.
