This is the car that inspired me to start building my '39 Dodge pickup. Not everybody's cup of tea, but I love it.

My personal favorite is the 34 Ford pickup though.
I bet that thing turns more heads than a $100,000 new sports car would.
nice
here is mine
THATS GREAT STUFF GUYS LETS SEE SOME MORE
there were a lot of RAt Rods at the SAn francisco cow pallace car show last weekend. they are only allowed in the old animal stall area, not on the main floor . some looked good, some like rolling junk, to each his own today too many cars are 1 800 credit card order parts cars, not enough new ideas, what will work for engine chassis desigh etc

It all looks good! I really like that Rusty chevy.
Couple of nice looking rides, Dgas56; I especially like the pickup. The proportions on the Plymouth chop look to be just about perfect, to me - sure don't see many old Plymouths done right.
heres mine in calgary
anyone around CT should check out the rockabilly rumble in east hartford. it happens once a year, rat rods and kustoms from all over. this is the only car show i go to its more like a party.. heres a couple pics http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3...2/P1010028.jpg http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3...2/P1010029.jpg
nice pictures, i heard that show is awsume
1800 for those wheels?
Well Denny you found youself a keeper there! Isn't that a beaut! You wouldn't have to do anything to it just take it to the rot rad show.
Nice job. The think about these, uh, cars is that they'll be there for the next twenty years with that good looking finish.
Don Garlits told me once
"when we were kids our motto was if it runs its done"
words to live by
Did Don say that before or after he got his foot blown off on his front engine rail job?
Man thats just wrong ,pickin on ole don that way
rofl
I think in those days they didnt build it ratty
just for the sake of ratty they just didnt know any better
things that look shoddy today were state of the art back then
just think if there were titanium bellhousings back then...
dont forget hes the first to run the hemi, smart man i followed about every thing hes done only if we all could be like him
i remember waiting to watch him on wide world of sports when i was kid before cable
lol
not "we" like me and him
"we" just meant Don and his friends
I've met him several times at his museum
and at the super chevy shows
its funny he would bring chryslers to a chevy event
he had a replica there of one of his early cars he ran
it was kewl to watch him hand pumping the fuel pressure
before he launched
drag racing owes much of its technology to him yet
hes such a down to earth guy that talks to anyone who asks
I'll tell you another down to earth and very likeable person and that is Shirley Muldowney (sp)?. I met her and had a great conversation with her about her life and her son who turns the wrenches on the dragster. They are all good people, I guess it's because they paid their dues and don't have to impress anybody. Anyway, she was a real sweet heart and I mean that in a respectful way, a pleasure to talk with.
I'm sure none here knows who this is, so I'm gonna tell you. This is CECIL GORDON a friend of mine that drove for nascar back in the 70's, finished in the top 10 in points a few times, he was working for Darrell Waltrip at one time. he brought his car to my shop in N.C. a few times back in the 70's and people would come by and he would spead the day talking to them, and didn't charge me a dime. nice guy. the good looking one is me. :HMMM:
he married a girl there in town, and every time he would come to town I,d tune up his tow truck for him. he could drive a race car though. they stayed on the rd. most of the yr. it was like 1975 and he finished 6 th in points, spent all he won on the car 63.000.00 and put the point money in his pocket 30,000.00. oh how times has changed.Quote:

Kind of makes you wish for the good ole days doesn't it. I remember watching Terry Labonte here at the local bull pen and walking thru the pits talking with him like anyone else. Now, you can't even get close to those guys. They were decent, hard working guys like the rest of us, and really appreciated anyone who helped them or just stopped by and said "good luck in the next race".
big daddy would like this (be calm just kidding around)well that didnt work do later
me and jim at the drags
notice the lack of sponsorship logos on Jim's trailer
he's been racing forever and I cant ever remember
him having a sponsor
must be nice running a top fueler on private funds :P
heres me and worsham just another guy
