lol, not a 'true' rat rod, but its my rat!
Rat29, looks like you've got some nice material to work with there. Keep us posted.
And I remember him catching on fire in Detroit in '59, I was in the timing trailer.Quote:

I trailered Densham a couple of years ago for outdated blower restraint belts. But, yeah, he is a nice guy.
Rat 29, I would have no problem puttin' it on the road just like it is on the outside, just with updated mechanicals. I wouldn't prime it, paint it, nothing. Just drive it like it is. Of course, I wouldn't hang a fuel tank on the front though
It' been my experience, as I'm sure it has been tech's, that most of the guys in drag racing a pretty decent and easy to talk to. There are exceptions and years ago I flagged a couple of them.Quote:

Hey, that's looks like a flathead Olds engine in it. Pretty wild!
It's a caddy flatty.....really a pretty cool ride. Very nicely (safely) built. Just has that worn out lookQuote:

to get back on topic, here's a pic of my car from back around 1996(when I was 16) hasn't been TOOOO much progress on it lately but I'm starting to work on it again tonight. from 16-25 I just had too much stuff going on to work on it. I'll let you guys guess what it is. Good luck, you'll need it.

really good thread,
Rat Rods seem to hitting their stride, considering ther eare over 3000 views.
Kinda fun to see all the fabracation, and the thought process that each builder brings to their ride. Not a welder but am quite enveious of those that are...

Fast cars and pretty girls are what make this country great.
Nice job! You have a lot of interesting details on it. What a fun truck!;)
My other ride, a '41 Chevy pickup 5" vertical chop and a 3" section.http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2...00654_2929.jpg
Don't want to double post pics, so check out all the pics I just posted in the Hot Rod Talk Section .....I think you will like em.
this is a rat rod racer, a 44 year old photo. our neighbor had built this car in like 1959 or so. that is the bug that bit him and he soon after built and ran a fuel altered.
Damn, I hate that term "Rat Rod"!!! I know, I know, thats young people jargon for "old style Hotrod", but I hate the sound of it.---Brian
Well at this point, I guess its a "Rat Rod". Its a 60 Belair. I've got a 454 with a world class T5 5 speed lined up for it. Going to spray it "Hot Rod Black" and go sparingly with the stainless trim... Going to also try to keep the front end up in the air and use fenderwell headers for that Gasser look.

hell of a long way to go
Here's the 40 P.U. I've been tinkering with for 10 years. really slow progress. Sits on a S10 chassis with a 350/350 combo.

I've since cut the rot out of the hood and liked it that way.

And the 39 P.U. that has very little done yet. It's on a old datsun truck chassis cause I liked the torsion bar suspension, with a 53 Merc flatty. The front fenders were dented beyond repair so I removed them and like the fenderless look now. Plan to use moon hub caps to hide the 6 lug wheels.

Hey man I like these pics you got here. I really like how you have made them look.
I was reading the question below on what everyone calls a ratrod. I bet this one qualifies  !! Normally I'm a 2 wheel drive guy, but I've taken a stab at building my own SUV. Its been 4 years in the making. The bod is a 51 gmc, frame 1983 wagoneer, 79' dodge dana 60 and rear gm 14 bolt. The transfer case is a 80 jeep Dana 300. The engine a 1976 well warmed mopar 440 with a 727 tranny. The tranny is rebuilt using stuff from my 401 727 into the 440 727 to use the short 4x4 tailshaft. The seats are out of an Escort. Anyway, if ya want something on this critter, you gotta make it. Thats a ratrod. Take a look.
Does this qualify as a 'rat rod'?
This is how far I got with the 29
