    original rat rod

this is a rat rod racer, a 44 year old photo. our neighbor had built this car in like 1959 or so. that is the bug that bit him and he soon after built and ran a fuel altered.

Well at this point, I guess its a "Rat Rod". Its a 60 Belair. I've got a 454 with a world class T5 5 speed lined up for it. Going to spray it "Hot Rod Black" and go sparingly with the stainless trim... Going to also try to keep the front end up in the air and use fenderwell headers for that Gasser look.

I was reading the question below on what everyone calls a ratrod. I bet this one qualifies !! Normally I'm a 2 wheel drive guy, but I've taken a stab at building my own SUV. Its been 4 years in the making. The bod is a 51 gmc, frame 1983 wagoneer, 79' dodge dana 60 and rear gm 14 bolt. The transfer case is a 80 jeep Dana 300. The engine a 1976 well warmed mopar 440 with a 727 tranny. The tranny is rebuilt using stuff from my 401 727 into the 440 727 to use the short 4x4 tailshaft. The seats are out of an Escort. Anyway, if ya want something on this critter, you gotta make it. Thats a ratrod. Take a look.

Way cool maybe not a rat rod but very nice. I am putting my 53 chevy 3100 on a 85 S10 then a 305 that I have and a blazer rear end from an 85 blazer I have, and am going for the rad rod look flat black my wife loves that color and it will be my daily drive and will sell the chopped 72 el camino daily driver. THEN the 50 F1 ford get torn apart like you did and do all the body work and interior the drive train and frame stuff is all done and is a driver now. good luck Ed ke6bnl
