You ddn't ask, but since your son likes the Nascar thing he probably wants a truck that handles so I'll throw this out. A cheap upgrade for the skinny 1/2 ton front sway bar is to get one off of a 1 ton. It'll bolt right on and when combined with a good rear bar, does wonders for the handling. Does make it ride a little rougher, though.
That's a great idea! The truck has 2" shorter coils and I was already thinking of trying the heavier C20 coil springs to stiffen it up anyways. I'm all over trying this one as well. In my opinion, you can't make this old truck stiff enough.

Very nice square body! Is it a 73 or 74? That is a very sweet truck for a first ride. I've been having really bad ideas to take my 76 crew cab short bed and make it 2wd again and drop it low to the ground. I will probably just quit thinking and finish it as a 4x4 though.

Love the pickup, I have lots of time behind the wheel of a 76 chevy. I'm glad to see them coming into this hobby. This one is not my old one but just about a spiting image of it.
