Just joined this board today, so I guess this is a good way to start. I finished a 3 year build 12/12/2012. My 1941 pickup has a 1953 8BA with a Isky Max1, bored 80 over, Mallory electronic, E coil, Reds headers, Offey heads(425) and intake, and a 390 Holley. More than enough power for me ! Stock 39 toploader pulling 3:78 banjo torque tube. Speedway disc conversion, Posie reverse eye front spring. Q1A coil overs and panhard in back.
Turning 3500 RPM @ 70 MPH. 16" tires 205 front, 225 rear. I did everything except machine work and paint. As others have said a flathead is not cheap, but I think it is worth it. SO if you have questions Just ask and I will be glad to help.
