Just joined this board today, so I guess this is a good way to start. I finished a 3 year build 12/12/2012. My 1941 pickup has a 1953 8BA with a Isky Max1, bored 80 over, Mallory electronic, E coil, Reds headers, Offey heads(425) and intake, and a 390 Holley. More than enough power for me ! Stock 39 toploader pulling 3:78 banjo torque tube. Speedway disc conversion, Posie reverse eye front spring. Q1A coil overs and panhard in back.
Turning 3500 RPM @ 70 MPH. 16" tires 205 front, 225 rear. I did everything except machine work and paint. As others have said a flathead is not cheap, but I think it is worth it. SO if you have questions Just ask and I will be glad to help.

That truck brings back some great feelings. I had a 41 when I was 20 with a 53 merc flathead that had been bored .060 over with stock heads and a rochester 2 barrel carb( all I could afford). I took off 12" from bed and used a 55 gallon in bed for gas tank. Now you got to rember back then gas was 30 cent/gallon> With rear gears 4:10 and a 4 speed it moved right along. Ran two open driveshafts for exhaust stacks with no mufflers.

Enough about my truck. Yours is beautiful and I love the old flathead engines. If you ever decide to sell it let me know.
Keep smiling, it only hurts when you think it does!

Nice Pickemup - - - I"ve been thinking about putting those style wheels on my '62 Fairlane. Coker has them for $87.

Welcome to CHR, and great pick up you've built! I love flat heads, just haven't had a good enough one to use yet. Maybe someday one of my projects will get one. Like after the kids are out of college?

Looks like an ideal place to ask your question about total height of the roof, 41HalfTonFord....

haha, yeah had a brain fart

So... to catch you up with my perdicament, i just bought a 41 PU as well and have a LOW garage door. Would you be able to get a measurement of the ride height? i want to make sure it will fit into my garage before i trailer it the some 100+ miles just to find out it wont fit into my garage.

As I said new to the site so it takes a little longer to figure out how this place works.
Anyway from the floor to the top of the crown of the top my truck is 70 1/2".
That being said remember I have a 1 1/2" drop on the front spring and I reworked the rear with coil overs. The stance when I got the truck was much higher in the rear. The front wheels are stock 16" and the tire adds about 6". If things are close you might consider using Mercury wheels or 78-80 F150 wheels. Both of these are 15" and 5x5.5 lug pattern. A few years ago I was pulling an engine and found it wouldn't clear the fenders so I took the front wheels off and got the engine out. Where there is a will there is a way!

Thought you might enjoy a shot of the "old school" interior. I switch the temp gauge between the sides of the flathead with a toggle switch.. Made the gauge panel out of a heat pump cover, enjoy.

Just wondering what radiator/size you are using. I have a 302 lined up for my build. Not sure how much a difference that will make. Also curious as to how much room i will have to work with.

I am using a Chinese aluminum aftermarket unit that was a couple of hundred dollars new on Ebay. Cooling it with a Spal electric fan. No fan on the engine. Runs cool, no overheating. Also kept the original 41 rad. I can send measurements if you need them. A 302 is a little tight in the engine bay, but will fit. A friend just finished a 302 C4 install on his 40 truck.
