I'd think that you might be in danger of burning exhaust valves running hard at only 25 degrees. For sure you're not getting all the power, as lots of energy is going out the exhaust.Roger
Enjoy the little things in life, and you may look back one day and realize that they were really the BIG things.

Nice dyno runs. I can see where you'd be leary of going all out on the 3rd go round. But, you won't know until you try it.Ryan

Just a quick update before the winter shut down and work on the car.
I took the MG to the track on Sunday. The headwind was (get this) 40mph !!!!
I didnt want to blow the tyres away on the launch so I dropped the nitrous from 100hp to 25hp for the initial hit. I also increased the build time for the full 175 shot from 0.7 of a second up to 2 seconds. Then I increased the ign timing up by just 2 degree's to make it 27 degree's all in. Still way short of the 32 - 36 degree's I should be running i know.
But it was the last RWYB of the year. The rain was on and off and I only had one shot at a run. I puched her off the line and she ran a real smooth 10.4 seconds. 60 foot was 1.50 seconds as opposed to the high 1.3's I normally run.
As I crossed the finish line I had to turn the windshield wipers on as the rain had come back. I drove straight back to my pit area and onto the trailer as I knew the track would close by this late time of 2.30pm with fresh rain.
I was very happy with the 10.4 given the track and weather conditions.
I now have the parts to start making my Zoomies. The MG will run again on the Dyno when the Zoomies are fitted and then its rear axle out for wheelie bars
For the next few days it will be Halloween stuff for me and the family. The Pumpkin carving started last night.

Love the Pumpkin carving! Quite the artist there!!!
Glad you got one last run in and the results are still respectable. Now sit back and enjoy being with the family!!

Hi Guys!!
Just a quick update. Halloween was a great success. We had a fantastic evening outside the house entertaining families who came calling.
We did some old skool stuff like "splat the rat" and also made up a big witch face with a hole in the mouth to a bucket behind so kids could throw balls into her mouth. It was very cold so the "bobbing for apples" was in a bowl of flour and icing sugar
All of the pumpkins got a lot of comments which was good.
Then it was car time again. I have had to work every weekend since Halloween so I have had to farm out some jobs like getting the zoomie pipes cut to the right angle and getting the wheelie bar brackets laser cut to save me some time cutting and filing. The overtime pay cover this
The zoomies should be finished in 10 days and the wheelie bar mounts should be here next weekend if all goes well.
I was going to spend this weekend (my birthday weekend) working on the MG, but I ended up spending today working on a friends 1960's London Taxi restoration project by getting all of the lights working. This taxi has been stored outside for 12 years. It took me 6 hours to get the lights working. Then I had 4 hours welding chassis repair sections onto a friends Mercedes van to get him through the MOT test.
Tomorrow I will be working on a friends Slingshot to finish the chassis welding and get the front suspension fitted.
Then I will have my birthday time with the family for fun and presents etc !!If I dont get a chance to comer back next month I will now wish you all a merry Christmas and a happy new year folks.
Best wishes
Perry & Family
I'm now going downstairs to open my birthday presents etc.

Thank you, Perry. Best wishes for a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year to you and your whole family.
And Happy Birthday to you!!!
And thanks for the report about your Halloween. It sounds like you folks over the pond are still having a great fun time in spite of all that tea we threw into Boston Harbor. Sorry about that, but out of hand taxes can make people a little crazy!
If you get a chance, post some pics of the London Taxi and the Slingshot.Nick

Will do nick. I'll be back on the Taxi and the Slingshot tomorrow so I'll take my camera.
My birthday is today 30th November.
The Slingshot is now stripped back to bare bones as we have been modding the chassis. Its been a good learning experience this year getting it to run. But we found several problems with the SBC like oil seeping from the rear of the head gaskets? and the chassis actually snapping on a test run !!
We made a solid chassis table to do the rebuild and tomorrow we will remove the 9" rear and flip the chassis on the table to finish the welding of the new bars.
Here is the slingshot from a test day earlier this year. I have driven this and its a scary ride I must say !
The 10.9 felt like an 8 second pass from inside the car. The transbrake launch at only 1800 rpm felt very hard. You can see in the slo mo video that I had not even touched the pedal off the line as the flaps on the bug catcher are not really open. As I ran down the track I tickled the loud pedal and each time I did the rear tyres let go and the front wheels got very loose. I'm used to driving a door slammer. This thing felt like it was made of rubber ??
But despite the lack of throttle it ran a 10 at 113mph?? SCARY

Cool slo-mo of the dragster, Perry. It does look very "compliant". When I see that I always imagine ways to synchronize and harmonize all those vibrations and flexures to get the most positive outcome.
Ministry of Transport test. Much like a state inspection like we have in Pennsylvania and many other states; they check for safety and emissions to make sure the car is "roadworthy".Nick

Well happy birthday to you Perry and I hope you and your family have a marvelous Christmas and New year break. Is the owner of the rail a Kiwi as I noticed the name of the You Tube link ?I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

Thanks for the birthday wishes guys. I have just about finished watching my birthday DVD's now. I love Film. And I like getting DVD's as presents so I'm pretty easy to please at times like this. I like pretty much all types of movies. But I'm very fond of old Sci Fi stuff. I got about 12 DVD's on my birthday. But my faves are two remastered Sci Fi disks. The "Forbidden Planet" and the original version of "The day the earth stood still" to replace my old VCR's of these movies. And I found myself a DVD of the old classic "This Island Earth" to top off my birthday DVD's Some may think thats sad, but I just love the rich colours and clarity of these old films from way back when. I'm also a fan of Ray Harryhousen special effects so you can guess what other films I cherish in my collection.
Whiplash! The owner of the Slingshot is nicknamed Kiwi because of his addiction to his old project, which was a McClaren Hill Climb car with a SBC fitted. Bruce McClaren was a Kiwi hence the nickname
So Back to the update on the MGB. The Zoomies are now made and I test fired today. The header plates are still in stock form and need hogging out to port match my cylinder heads which I will do next week. They need about 3mm / 1/8th inch trimming off all 4 sides to be big enough for my heads. But they sound ok. I'll be fitting lambda and EGT bungs on them next week as well. Then I need to move some pipes and wires for better clearance and then I can wrap them in heat tape up to the under side of the hood and polish the tops of the pipes. The primary pipes are 1 3/4" and are just 16" long. I think thats about the least resistive exhaust system I can fit on the MGB.
