2 things jumped out at me in you're reply.. first is you're passion, the list became quite extensive and yet we were only discussing a couple'a hundreths of a second....
Second was your dedication to Beer and Bar-B-Que! For that I salute you! Glad to hear you've got you're priorities squared away!

Ha Ha!!
You got me there my friend... Who can resist a hot day / evening in the garden or the pits with an ice cold Corona (with slice of lime stuck in the neck) and fat rare steak or home made burger from the BBQ. Followed by a JD and Coke with ice to wash it down as we chill in the (very rare) UK summer warmth
My Wife does of course make sure that I have a bowl of chopped salad to go with it which I quite like sprinkled with Thai Sweet Chilli sauce But she aint there in the pits when we race so i just substitute the salad for shallow fried potato slices.
You should see the BBQ stuff we do in the pits at Retro weekend. 25 of us rock up for the weekend and we all bring our cooking gear. Saturday night when racing is done we sit a 20" TV on top of my mates minivan and set up the chairs cinema style to watch Urban Hillbilly drag race DVD's from the USA. All you can hear in the dark hours is us cheering and shouting as we watch the mayhem
Normally after 20 mins or so we have another 20-30 folk gathered round to join in the outdoor cinema as they have heard the noise and seen the glow from the TV. We just invite them in and let them help themselves to the cool boxes if they havent brought there own drinks.
The racing is fantastic at these events. But the social side in the evening makes it all worthwhile as we join in with the fun and frolics that ensues. Last saturday we had a bunch of folk watching the TV and another bunch in my marquee listening to music and dancing under my battery powered mirror ball display
Sadly fireworks and chinese lanterns are banned at Santapod for obvious safety reasons.
So we use the mirror ball to light up the roof of the marquee as a beacon to the fun zone...
The important thing is that we enjoy our racing and the social gathering. We dont take oursleves too seriously. We all help each other out where we can and we share spares and parts as needed. We all pitch in to work on each others cars during the event.... But when we get to the Tree, all friendships end for about 10 seconds or so
Thats why I like Drag Racing !!

And that is one reason why the sport of Drag Racing has grown over the years I believe Pel. The after match function is always a excellent time for the beers and burgers.

You got me there!! Who could resist?
"Back in the day", to go racing, I could scratch together enough cash to afford Spam or Bologna on hand!!! If I had a happy customer who tossed me a good tip, I could afford some day old rolls or a loaf of bread!
But I wouldn't change any of those memories for anything in the world! Some lifelong friends were made also! I trust you'll find the same!

Well!!
We did some minor work on the rear end. Played with tyre pressures. Fitted a different spray bar plate and tightend up the nitrous ramp settings. All minor mods but they paid off big time todayt at the track. We ran a new PB of 9.78 and then backed it up with a better runs of 9.69 seconds. Two pics from today tell the whole story
My cheeks are aching from the Grin that just wont go away
Regards to all Pel

Thanks for the support Guys!!
It would ne nice to see the season out with a 9.59 timing ticket. But as long as she stays firmly in the 9's for the rest of this year I'll be very happy.
In fact I'm sort of looking forward to the end iof the season so we can start all those little jobs for next year
Make up some zoomies to see if they help on the dyno. I've always wanted 8 pipes rising from the hood !
Fit my transbrake gearbox is next on the list if I have time. I would rather break something testing transbrake launches this year so I have the winter to fix it
I'm re desinging all that gubbins on top of the blower to get rid of those awful adaptor plates. I've found a big chunk of ally that I will get milled into one neat plate that bolts to the blower but then has about 2" of rise under the carb so i can fit my direct port injectors undwer the dominator instead of the nos spray bar plate. This means I can save money as I wuill fit 4 fogger nozzles. Two for the first nitrous stage which is via the 20 year old progressive controller. And the other two for a fixed hit 2nd stage, or maybe progressive if I can find my spare controller. The list of little things to do is quite long.
But I'm thinking that if I fit the box with the transbrake I can launch with boost and leave the nitrous on delay for a couple of seconds off the line. I cant hold much rpm on the foot brake as the brakes dont hold over 2000rpm and I go through the lights early and pull a red when I try it. With the engine loaded on the footbrake at 1800rpm its only making 4psi of boost.
If the rear end is taking a small amount of boost with 50hp of nitrous off the line, and then another 100 shot of nitrous coming in over 0.9 of a second, by which time the boost has ramped up to 10psi, I reckon it should be able to cope with 10psi of boost right off the line and then bring in the nitrous 2 seconds after launch. Thats the theroy anyway.
I'm also thinking about a cam change. But I wont know what cam to even think about until I actually get this setup on the dyno hopefully next month. Cam are sort of black magic to me? But I have two friends who are well versed in cams and how to choose them for specific tasks
In the meantime I will sit back and wallow in my 9.69 seconds of fame until the next time out.
Regards to all you folks over the water.
Pel

Another slight improvement today at the track
I run a 175 shot of gas at this time.
I dropped my nitrous start power from 105 hp with the other 70hp coming in over 0.9 seconds to 95hp with the other 80hp coming in over 0.7 seconds.
The result was a 9.62 second pass. 60 foot time down from 1.48 to 1.39 seconds.
I could not do any more runs due to a fuel leak that I could not fix. But I'm happy with a new PB straight off the trailer !
Slo Mo vid here with real time vid to follow on Monday when my friend gets home to upload it.
So so close to the 9.5 I'm looking for by the end of this year.
regards
Perry
