Lightbulb any ideas in cleaning water spots off windows

hello guy & gals, new and first time to write in so excuse any mistakes ! I bought a 67 buick wagon that I want to use as my delivery horse at our upholstery shop, but it sat next to trees for about 10 years, the windows are so water stained so bad that I have tried everything that I can think of to get them clean, but I can still see some water stains, any ideas no cleaning or do they make a cleaner that might do the trick.

There used to be a product called "Glass Wax" that was great for removing water spots. Don't know if it's available anymore or not. Maybe some rubbing alcohol with a bit of vinegar thrown in and rub the heck out of it......

Invisible glass sounds mighty expensive, wouldn't taking the glass out be cheaper?

Water spots can be right in the glass(or paint, too.) The water drops form little lenses, and the sunlight actually cooks the substance under the drop. If that's what's happened, they won't come out.

thanks for the info. R pope, I think thats whats happening here cause I've tried CLR,vineger, thinner, rubbing comp. and lots of elbow grease,Nata!! I'll be tinting most of the windows but the driver side window is bad and I can only go so dark,I guess I'll have to live with some for a while or replace them,it's just a work horse but I still want it to look nice.....

Here is what my dad found out a long time ago. We used to try EVERYTHING to get heavy spots out of windows, etc and some products worked ok but never got every spot off. My dad went to a boating store and got this rubbing compound for boats, etc (cars too) and used it. Get a sponge wet, put a tad on there. Rub in circles and don't push real hard.
Works the BEST and get's every spot off. Those other products will work fine but wont get all the real old spots off as well.

Oh and I just saw you said you tried rubbing compound... Not sure how yours didn't work. Mine says it's for boats like the fiberglass, etc.... Maybe this is different than your ordinary rubbing compound.

Eastwood offers a glass polish kit, supposed to even take out scratches. JC whittney also has them, I think

best thing i have found was some soft steel wool , they come in packs and can be found at any pep boys, walmart. the steel wool is softer then regular pot scrubbing,

this will get the spots out and also take any grease off the glass.

i used it for my mustang when i took it to shows.

    worked great.

For the most stubborn of the stubborn water spots, use red rouge, the jewelry polish, and a buffing wheel mounted on a drill to clean the windshield. I just did this on my truck and it worked very well. It didn't do anything about the pits on the windshield, though. I'll have to replace that.

A car we did a few years back had very bad scratches on the inside of the windscreens, caused by a succession of women using the back of their left hand to 'demist' the screen. The diamonds in their rings gouged the glass. We took both screens out, laid them on the lawn, and used 'Brasso', a mildly abrasive brass cleaner on them.
It worked, but it took a lot of elbow grease.
