I used to love going round and round on clay Thats before they started building houses by the track. Then it became too loud for the residence and they shut the track down Santa Fe Speedway just outside Chicago.Charlie

its always somethin'
Got my radiator fixed and installed. went to fire up the car & fried my main hot wire..I had the elec/fan wired direct w/o a relay & I overloaded the circuit...replaced the toasted wire, disconnected the fan..OK ready to go
NOT...my used electric fuel pump puked. had enough fuel to try a start,no go
Time to replace the plugs/cap/rotor & change from dual point to Pertronix
Ignitor II.
The more I dig, the more shovelin' needs done!

Yup Brick, the odds are against us gearheads. Just makes building Hot Rods and racers that much more fun!!! My only problem is keeping up with these kids when it's time to work on the cars!!!! Been a long time since I've been out in the shop till 11PM every night wrenching on a race car!!! Just another sign of old age, I guess.
As with many things, you can take the man out of the race car, but you can't take racing out of the man. Now if we could just get some elderly, retired mod chassis guy up here next summer to be a "consultant" on the chassis, maybe we could go fast!!! HEY MIKE!!!! These things ain't nothing like setting up a sprint car!!! Looked all over the car, no torsion bars anywhere!!!!!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Back in the 60's we didn't have half the cage they use today, I remember after spending the winter in an unheated garage hanging sheet metal welding and anything else that neede doing came the first race and I had to work I got home from the job about 1 am and the car was back in the shop. I went out there to see how we did. Every body was about a 6pack ahead of me. The driver side of the car looked like they never pulled it out. I looked at my partner and said What no race?? He then pointed to the other side of the car. Not much more than the cage man I was up set but we won enough to buy gas for next week and I knew what I'd be doing before then. I think I used every wire coat hanger in the area welding that thing together. Some time I'll tell u's how we got the sheet metal for the next year.Charlie

Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
