    Steve,

I know what you mean about house work taking up too much time, 100º/º to 0º/º hot rod in my case BTW, saw some Petaluma flooding pics, hope you are high and dry. I used to live about 1/2 mile from Santa Rosa creek years ago and was wondering what you have heard about that.

Jack no flooding here, but lots of water. Been working last few evenings, so I've missed most of the local news about this string of storms giving us some well needed water, a bit faster than we wanted!

It would seem the no good low life who did all the gouging with a key or whatever on the hood and front fenders of my pickup last summer also decided to "add" a little something to my gas tank! Haven't drained it yet, but just taking a whiff through the filler car it kind of smells oily??? Maybe some dirty oil, or possibly diesel fuel? Oh well, I guess I needed to drain and flush the (brand new 1 1/2 years ago) gas tank anyway!!!!!

Finally got around to getting the pickup put in the garage! Had to wait til today when it snowed just enough to make everything brutally slippery!!! Because of crud in the tank we had to tow it instead of drive it, then winched it into the garage. Had my pal Craig help me, then just after we got it inside a couple other guys showed up to help us sit around and watch the snow melt off of it! Anyway, time to get my "things to do on the pickup" list back out and get it put together---finally!

Got a few things done on the pick-em-up.... Got some bed-liner rolled onto the box floor, sanded out the rest of the gouges on the hood, started sanding the roof. I've got a small dent to take out of the roof, looks like it was hit with a heavy stick, shovel handle or the like. There was a small crease in the body line above the windshield but a little dingin' with the body hammer and slapping spoon took care of it. Probably be able to take the headliner out and smooth out the rest of it. Dang vandals! It would probably be better for all concerned if I never find out who the little chicken**** was that did the damage!!!!

Dave I understand completely. My car was victim to a hit and run, either in front of my house or at work(get off late and it's dark!). Went out next day and front fender scraped and dented, front bumper gouged and scrathed paint and plastic on the little MR2. Called police to report it and took it to body shop1200.00 bucks later just got it back this week. In my youth my Mom was backing out of a tight Sears parking lot and nicked the car next to her. She stopped the car, got out a pen and paper and left a note with her insurance info and phone number. This is how we were taught as kids. I have never been the recipiant to a note or anyone fessing up to any damage to any vehicle I own, people just feel if they get away they won. So in similar respects... If I catch the Chicken #$%@ who hit me................
Sad that folks seem to think this kind of stuff is o.k. I'm sure in your case if one of the vandals had somebody vandalize their vehicle, they'd have a huge rage hissy fit, but they just don't get that by doing it themselves, that it's not o.k.
Anyway... lookiing foward to seeing all the mods finished on the old Ford truck, I remember you posting some mods you started to the bed of the truck. Now you need to get a camera and share!

I guess I'll never understand why someone would even want to mess with another guys ride, just makes no sense to me either, Steve! I like my old pickup, but I sure do hate doing things twice on it!

I'd like to get me a new camera today, unfortunately just not the right time of the year to part with the money!!! As usual, I have too much money stuck in too many different projects! After the vandalism to the old pickup I've kind of lost my enthusiasm for it. Probably going to finish it up, make it shiny again and just sell the thing and move on to other projects.

That sucks, Dave! I had a blue 72 Monte Carlo years ago that someone took a can of red spraypaint to while I was sleeping. I was messing around on my girlfriend at the time so I figured either she put someone up to it or the boyfriend of the gal I was messing with did it but regardless I was hacked off. There was a Hardees commercial on a while back of a kid with an early Chevelle eating a burger while some guy with a buffer was trying to buff the word "Cheater" off the side of his car that was written in spray paint. I had to laugh at that one.

Mine was parked on a residential street in a Denver suburb and some kid walked down the street with a can of red spray paint, and put a line down the side of every car on the street. I came home, took the car to a detailer and he used a buffer & soft compound to buff it out, better than it had been before. Later I got married, and my father-in-law was a used car wholesaler. He shared that he often used oven cleaner to clean up paint on paint, even taking a sign painter's work off the side of a commercial truck and putting it back to original without any re-painting. Thought that was pretty neat, but never had occasion to try it after that one experience.

Can't help but think you made some "special" friend(s)..... Sucks when someone takes it out on your property rather than stand in front of you and speak your piece. Oh well, it's to late to cry 'bout it! Hope you get a camera soon too! Sucks not seeing your handiwork!!

Managed to get both dents out of the roof of the pickup that were on the body line edge with just the dingin' spoon. Still have a couple small dents in the roof to work out, have to drop the headliner out and get them out of their tomorrow, then the roof and hood will be ready for primer again. Also got some hinges made for the fiberglass bed cap today. Had to shorten the cap 2 1/2" to make it fit the box correctly, it's almost ready to 'glass back together. Probably get the primer shot before I start making a lot of dust from the 'glass! I'll hopefully get things wet sanded and ready for sealer by the first of the week.
