Thanks Pro70, I will be using a mild street one (2800) for the cam I have coming, the 400 BB I have came with a 727 w/a 2200 stock but the 292 (Xtreme) comp cam says it needs a 2800 stall with at least a 3:56 rear end gear.

Well, here's the start of the '67 Coupe... This one was definitely a save from the crusher!! I guess there's enough to start with for the way the car will be built. Not much done yet, just some plates to reinforce the front rails and a test fit of the new crossmember.
Dave that will be some work . A little rust for you to take care of. Or is a restore the point in the build . Is this going to be a sleeper for the driving.
full frame, MII ifs, 9" rear and a 5.4 with AOD... Stock looking exterior and interior. Just the normal tune-up!!!!
Cool be one of my favorite builds your doing now Dave . Thats going to be a sweet look . You going to piece the IFS together or did you get a kit ? . If you could keep a price list for piecing i may go that route if its economical
Other then the crossmember, it will be all stuff right off the shelf, same pieces I usually use. I might fab up some moly arms and a few other pieces, trying to keep the weight down on this one..... Had my heart set on one of the aluminum 5.4 blocks like the GT's use till I found out they have no provision for mounting a starter. With the mid engine layout of the GT's, the starter is attached backwards and mounted to a plate or something on the back of the engine.....???? I'm sure I could fab something up, but at almost $4k for the block, not sure I can afford to do a lot of experimenting!!! Got to find some detailed pics of the GT's engine and drivetrain layout, I REALLY want to use the aluminum block in the Ranchero....... Oh well, if was easy I guess everybody would be doing it!!!!  :LOL:Quote:

They may still have the GT drive train under cover yet . They must have seen you looking at one LOL .
Yup, by the time you get a rack only installed with oil pan clearance for an FE, the bumpsteer is sooooo far off the car is almost undrivable!!!!Quote:

As soon as I get the crossmember mods done so that I have both clearance for the very wide and tall 5.4 and the geometry correct I'll let ya know.Quote:

Oh yeah, this shot has it mocked up with a 460 block and front sump pan. For an FE, I'd have to know which pan depth you'd want...I would consider a custom rear sump and pickup for an FE, or if money doesn't scare you away, maybe a belt driven pump set-up, but not a dry sump if any of that makes sense!!!!!
Not a Racer so some of it goes overhead . Rear sump pans are available if so i like that keeping with somewhat a traditional look . Great when you Git Err Dun just let me know and give me the classes i need . Dave thanks i see something good going under the ole FB.
That fits well and I suppose if you where sitting too high, 2" drop spindles and the handling and ride are still there right? Well done Dave, I have my eye on a stock 74 gt I found a week ago. That will be the front end for my next project, I love wrecking yards!
Brick you barely find stuff in the 80's around here let alone 70 stuff .
Been playing with the geometry on both this and the Mustang.... Trying to make room for most any engine/tranny combination and still keep the cg low and the roll center at a level that is streetable yet still aggresive enough for some track time.... Almost caught up on other projects now, should be able to get back on the fun stuff in another month or so... Both projects are also under consideration for an 8.8" IRS.... :) :) :) :whacked:Quote:
