Wilwood has issued a recall notice about 7/8" bore master cylinders. This LINK provides more info.
Unfortunately, I have one of those masters installed on my '34. I'm less than happy that they're not replacing it. The not says I have to remove it, send it to them and have them rebuild it . . . in the peak of rodding season to boot. :mad:
looks like this is your solution: "Wilwood® may impose a refundable core charge for repaired/rebuilt Master Cylinder’s shipped at customer request before return of the recalled part."
I had to read that several times to ensure that I was understanding, but it does sound like you can call them, request that they send you a replacement unit, and at their option they may collect a core charge from you, refundable when you send in your MC. Worth a try, I'd say.Quote:

Wilwood came back with another offer: "We will sell you a brand new master cylinder for $150. Once we receive your original master cylinder for repair, we will credit you $50 of the $150. You will still receive your original repaired master cylinder as well." Like I need two master cylinders.
So, today I get this, which means they can't comply with the offer they made in the original government-mandated recall notice. I guess the car sits until I can ship it, get it rebuilt, and have it returned. Wilwood makes amazing brake systems, but this process sucks.

Wilwood is sending me a UPS return label for free return. I'm also supposed to get a call from them, so I can buy a new master cylinder. I want to try a 1" bore, since the 7/8" with an 8" dual diaphragm booster produces a little too light pedal force.
They offered me the $150 price for a new MC with $50 credit after rebuilding the recalled MC. We'll see if that holds up when I get the call from a sales rep.
Edit: Got the call from Wilwood and made the deal to buy the new MC, just as proposed.

That's good news, glad it worked out for you.
Actually, the deal is better than that. Wilwood repairs your old MC and returns it to you, so you have the new MC and the old one for $100. Otherwise, the repair only is totally free.Quote:
