Nobody paid for any sign, it's a fake! Trust me, I spend 2/3 rds of my week driving all over conneticut and have never seen a sign like that! Besides, most of CT is so conservative they'd be proud to have GW call it home!

Thanks Don, lets all get back on track with helping Pop Don with his build and forget the politics of the country or any other country for that matter and lets all remember that these pictures are all about fun that we post at each other every now and then. On a serious note please remember what is written in the Bible," all mankind are born into sin,and the only true leader of this world is God our Heavenly Father" and in the book of Revelation he will return and concur the evil one that is in charge of this world at the moment.
I know,I know religion and politics should be mentioned but ain't we all adults on this site unlike another Hotrod site that I visit occasionally where bad language and name callin is exceptable and the norm.
Yes we are all entitled to our own view of who is or was a great leader, but lets all look at the large picture of what is happening around this world and be thankful that we live where we do, warts and all.
Again Don,I am sorry for my little part in your thread getting a wee bit off track and I hope we sit back, have a laugh at it, and get back to hot rod ribbing ,humor, and encouraging each other.
I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

No, don't apologize, I actually enjoy it when a thread derails for a little bit and actually do it to myself quite a bit. Every once in a while I throw in a cat or some other diversion just to keep things from getting too boring. Some of my "updates" are pretty lame on their own............if I put a new bolt on the car I do a new post.

I'm kind of at a standstill right now anyway because the next step before the body goes on is to bend up a new roll bar. That is something I need Dan to help me do because he is very good about measuring things so they come out exactly as they are intended. If I bend it the thing will be too wide or narrow to fit the existing mounts on the frame. I just don't want to take any more of his time right now because he gets so little free time to work on his own car that I want to help him get his finally into primer. The plan right now is for us to work on his this Friday, his day off, and try to get it primed Sunday.

Last night I decided to take the bull by the horns and bend up my roll bar by myself. Dan was working late and I figured how hard could it be to do it by myself, as long as I measured carefully. So I did just that and luckily it came out just the size I needed. I had a chrome roll bar on the car originally but had to cut it off because it rusted on it's mounts from sitting all those years and I couldn't get the body off without removing the roll bar.

Next week I plan a trip to the chrome plater in Lauderdale because Dan has a bunch of stuff like his nerf bars, hinges, etc that need dipped too. It is only a couple hour drive and will save me boxing and shipping the parts to them. I'll take this new roll bar and get it chromed then too.

Now for the big news............tonight Dan and I slipped the body back on the frame!!!!!!! I couldn't wait to see it in place and I am happy beyond belief at how it came out. I was worried that it would be too much black, but it has enough chrome and polished aluminum to break it up. I love the satin and can't imagine the car any other color.

Here are some pictures, tomorrow I'm pushing it outside for some better shots and to get a look at it in the daylight. I tried talking Dan into pushing me around the block but that didn't fly.

Don, the Hot Rod looks really good and the 41 Chevy tail lights fit right in. It also looks like it could have been a cover car for and early 60's Hot Rod Magazine.

Thanks guys. No vroom vroom noises, but I sure did sit and stare at it a lot. Now that it is going together I wonder why I let it sit for these past 11 or 12 years without doing anything with it earlier. Life just gets in the way sometimes.

One problem I am going to have is that the drivers side valve cover will never come off with the body in place. The tall valve covers just clear the firewall by a tad even with the additional clearance the fiberglass guy was able to give me. I guess I'll just have to unbolt the body and lift up the front a little if and when I need to get it off.

    Don

And yes, the red distributor cap will be painted black. LOL

Excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!! I agree with Richard, we need to get this on a magazine cover. Maybe Ken knows someone who could make this happen! I personnaly think this is right up the alley of Hot Rod Deluxe, with an old style pin up gal posing next to it in Bobby socks!

Thanks guys (and Barb ) It has it's share of flaws, but I like em to drive, so it will get lots of road rash in short order I'm sure. And yes, I am glad the distributor is in the front otherwise I'd have to remove the body to set the timing. Darned sbf's are so long, but I like them anyway.

Why Why Why??? The dizzy looks good as is IMHO, I would leave it the factory colour. On a lighter note, wow your car is looking cool,(kewl) and see you make out that little jobs like bending up your roll bar and sanding bodies is too hard and look what you have accomplished. Looking good.
Just a question now please, can you take some low down photos side on to the car so that I can get a better idea of how much clearance your car has?
I would like to have limefire headers on my bucket with pipes underneath but I don't think I have the roof to hide mufflers etc underneath. Afew measurements will be appreciated also if that not too much trouble thanks Don.
