"My Son Don and I share a common trait, we know when "good enough is good enough"."
Oh PA-LEASE ..... you guys are both on the other side of detail .... the way past side!!! So good enough is when the details are way past the norm .... which I like.
I think the hot rod black will look kick ass.

Looking good Don and you can always ask the stripe person to put down some pinksh purple lines to keep your uncle happy.
Good to see your little bucket in the door way too, still enjoy using it to the max. and if you are going to challege those two coupes at the drags in October, you may have to take the bcket as you know,Chev eats Fords everytime.

Hey Don ... to be honest ... I tweaked my knee real bad & have been hobbling around the last 3.5 weeks. It just started to stop pounding ..... back on the car next weekend.
I have been sucking up some welding work from my company on the weekends so .... no real time yet.
I'll get it!!!

Yep Whiplash, I use the 23 alot. Every time I have an errand to run I try to take it instead of my daily driver...........it's a lot more fun.
Paul, if it wasn't for bad luck you wouldn't have any at all.
Really sorry to hear about the knee. Young guys like you aren't supposed to have those problems, just us old guys. Hope it mends well and quickly.

PS Sorry I forgot to say thanks for the update Don,please forgive me. I'm awestruck at Dan's Rod building skills and I with everybody else here are longing to see his pickup finished then maybe he can jump onto a plane and come downunder and help on my car.I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

The top frame is a kit he bought, and I'll have to ask him whose it is. I thought it came from Speedway, but not sure. I think it is from some company in Australia. I'll find out tomorrow and let you know.
Yes, it is made to fold down, but his is going to be welded solid. He revamped it quite a bit because he didn't like the way the side support bar came down into the window opening. We spent one night cutting it up and reshaping it to get it the way it is now. He never plans on putting it down, so this will work for him. He also is going to have a roll up rear window for ventilation, like you mentioned.
As it comes the frame kit isn't all that bad, but when you use it with a chopped windshield, like his, that side bar gets in the way somewhat and sticks down below the top material.

Excuse my stupid artwork, but the original side bar was about in this position.

Don,
Thanks for the updates and the pics of Dans car. He has a Cat that ate the canary look in the 1st pic and a Big SEG in the second pic.
Nice work both.

Thanks (USA) Steve, actually all I have to mask off is the polished SS rim around the perimeter, the rest gets sprayed, so not too bad masking wise.
Thanks (UK) Steve, yes you will get a ride in (hopefully) both this fall. Mine will be running unless something drastic happens, and as for Dans, well, we know how he might find 50 more things to do that hold it up, but I'm on him hard to get it done.
You are right about the name of the top kit he used, Kwik Top, thanks for jogging my memory. Here is some info on it Whiplash. In the interior shot you can see that bar, although the way they did their top it hid it from sight. Dans was going to be a different profile on the side so the bar ended up hanging down in the opening, unless he modified it. That is what we did.
Don
Here is the info from Roadster UTE site on the top kit:
KWIK TOP"

and to allow for stock or chopped windshields.
The top can be lifted off in one piece, folded down like original, or stored in the trunk.
