Considering it is a 36, you're damn lucky if any thing really matches up. Quality control wasn't a big item back in those days, especialy at the value priced car plants.
But if you can fix it, do it. Not sure how many people will be looking at your truck with a micrometer though.

A good friend will come and bail you out of jail....but a true friend will be sitting next to you saying..."Damn....that was fun!

Any of you folks with the pre-40 stuff worry about your belt lines matching?
It would not matter to me as long as its within an inch I am good. Thanks for the tip Barb.

If you see it once, you will always see it.
Better fix it now before paint is wasted. .....because you will go back and make it right if this a "keeper".
Ask me how I know.

Call it what you want but can be anal about door gaps and lines. On my 53 chev pickup I had the same problem and would not quit until I was happy with it. I've got sick of stuff and just painted it only to look at that spot first every time I saw the vehicle.
One think that helps me now is that I am 2 1/2 miles down a gravel road so my vehicles are too dirty to see imperfections
