Ha....try having OCD and ADD together. My first wife didnt know what to make of me.....we lasted 16 years. Bless her. I found out during my separation that I had a problem......that is over half the battle. Now that I'm aware that I'm OCD I take better notice of it most of the time and try my best not to leave it for my family and friends to clean up.

I guess I'm just suprised that there is that much difference. Over and 1/8"....more like 3/16" I was told that the early Chevrolet's were made as a 'contract' type thing. Different manufacturers. Could it be my doors would fit a different body much better?
Are the Fords this bad? Like Model A's? Just curious.

Considering it is a 36, you're damn lucky if any thing really matches up. Quality control wasn't a big item back in those days, especialy at the value priced car plants.
But if you can fix it, do it. Not sure how many people will be looking at your truck with a micrometer though.

Any of you folks with the pre-40 stuff worry about your belt lines matching?
It would not matter to me as long as its within an inch I am good. Thanks for the tip Barb.

If you see it once, you will always see it.
Better fix it now before paint is wasted. .....because you will go back and make it right if this a "keeper".
Ask me how I know.

Call it what you want but can be anal about door gaps and lines. On my 53 chev pickup I had the same problem and would not quit until I was happy with it. I've got sick of stuff and just painted it only to look at that spot first every time I saw the vehicle.
One think that helps me now is that I am 2 1/2 miles down a gravel road so my vehicles are too dirty to see imperfections
