I got the dash almost done,I'm not done with the trim yet but close. This will match the theme of the interior when it is all done.

I'm starting to plum the dry sump. We made this adapter to go from the push in style hose ends to a AN style. Then I drilled my scatter shield for the -12 bulk heads. I will hard line the lines out of the oil pan to the scatter shield then stainless line from the back side up to the tank. I'm going to cut the ends off the lines that are in the pan and weld on stainless lines to the bulk head. The reason for this is I can't get tight enough radius on my bender to tuck it in like I want.

Is that the peice in place with the 2 hose elbows? No, different bolts, so that is going to be an fitted hoses? Very cool.

Don-That's funny you say that, I would rather look at a real detailed chassis than a complete car!! She is doing better, it is going to take a while.
Brickman-That's the adapter, I just don't have the right bolts in it. The fittings that are in it are regular stainless hose ends, that's what I will cut off, using only the radius, then weld stainless tubing to continue to the bulk heads in the scatter shield. The SPIDER is another fuel and electrical set up. I wanted a different pattern on the lines but it turned out to be almost the same as the first one. I would have to move the distribution block to get what I want. I don't want to do that.
I picked up my seat today, he finished the foam work. Now I can set the steering column. Worked on the dash for a while.

Dave-That's one of the reasons I chose the Dearborn.It is really a rigid body. If you get a chance to crawl under one you can really see the thought that went into the construction.
Tim-If you can post some photo's of it when your done, I would like to see it. I'm always in the wrong time zone when someone offers to help :(

Tim-It's going to back dark Grey and darker Grey (my wifes choice) with some thin chrome trim going threw the kick panels and door panels. I'm not going to have any carpet in it it will be all leather on the floor with chrome strips where the wear areas are. I will use floor mats for everyday use but if I show it I'll take them out.

I don't know how to explain this, if this doesn't make sense just ask questions. What I wanted to do is make a cold air system for my motor. I'm sure that Pat and all you guys that build motors have experienced the advantage of cool air. I have been dynoing a LS7 for a while now and have learned a few things. It likes to run hot, it likes cold air and it really likes cold fuel. So I want a happy motor :3dSMILE:
With side panels on my car, the engine compartment temperatures are going to be very high. I really have not seen any air filter system I like for throttle body's and they all are using under the hood inlets. So I decided to try and make a cold air system for this car, and pretty much hide it from the outside. Since will run the hood and side panels most of the time. So here it is.
I just whacked out the front of the cross member and found a filter that would slip into the frame added on to the cross member to get the strength back. The front plate isn't in there yet but it will match the back one. Built it's own little housing to slip into.

Then all you have to do is turn some 4" round tubing into an oval and run it into the bottom cross member and you should get some cool air.

Very ingenious and the filter looks a lot like the one on my wife's Concorde. My only concern would be road debris sitting as low as it is. Have you thought about somewhat squaring off the bottom of the inlet similar to the engine inlet on 737's? In their original configuration they set so low to the runway that picked anything up in close proximity. The fix was to flatten the bottom of the intake and angle the engine up in respect to the wings. Just a thought.
I forgot this one, also the radiator hoses? they are really made of stainless tubing are all done.

I have been working on the front of the frame, installing two air passages threw the frame for cooling. On the passenger side the air conditioning lines and heater lines will be inside the frame and on the drivers side the fuel lines will be in there, the main feed line and the return line. I want to keep all these lines as cool as possible. The air will go in threw the grille insert go threw the frame and exit in the rear of the car on the gas tank. I may build a heat sink in the frame for the fuel system, I'm not sure I want to go that for yet.

Finally getting the front cross member finished, 90 hours, some things take longer than others :LOL:
Along with that we made these valve cover adapters, putting the early style covers on a LS 7. It uses the factory O ring on the head side and the early gasket on the valve cover side. I'm going to put the short valve covers on it to see if it looks better than the tall ones. One thing we did on the adapters is machine these bosses into it where the early style gaskets go. This way ever thing lines up automatically when you put the gasket on.

Ken, did you save the program for the valve cover adapters? Someone else might want to do a similar thing. The LS motors have terrible ugly valve covers and can use the improvement!

Ken, that adapter is really well thought out and constucted. We just did some work on Dan's Honda and I was impressed that they did the valve cover gasket just like you did.....there is a machined groove to hold the gasket in place. It is stuff like that which separates so-so work from really top drawer work.
Another thing I like about your car, and all of your cars, is that they are interesting to look at. How many cars do you see at a show that you glance at for a few seconds and walk away because of the lack of interesting stuff to look at? When you post pictures of your progress I spend long periods of time just taking in the many cool details you incorporated. That front suspension is just one of them. This car will be amazing when done...........in fact, it is ALREADY amazing. :) :)

Don- Thank you, you are so generous with your compliments. Thanks for asking about my wife. It's not going well, she only has 93 degrees of movement, if she doesn't get it to 120 degrees inn 30 days they are going to put back in the hospital and put her under again and crack it. The reasoning behind it is there is too much scar tissue building up preventing the progress of movement. And she is a terrible patient, her brother and her father were or doctors and she thinks she is one!!
Here is a Little more that I have been working on. The headlights are very important to me on the car for the aesthetics. Doesn't look like 40 pounds of aluminum, does it?
The other is the bung for the sending unit.

Ken, as a business owner, you obviously know that you dont want to be in the product business selling to the general public!! Selling to dealers (like your trailers are) is better; let them deal with the P&M of the customer.
A few years ago, I visited the Bayliner factory in Wash state. I asked my host why they preferred building big cruisers instead of their original sail boat product...he said that every sail boat purchaser though he was a sail boat designer.... but the guy who bought the big cruiser had only two questions: is there air conditioning and how much beer does the fridge hold?
Selling small hot rod parts would be a major pain. We made some 32 dash wings that matched an Auburn dash center section....the darned things had about 16 CNC hours in the pair....a bit pricey unless you are doing them for your own car!!

The indy style front end is my favorite, will the car handle really well with that front end? I can't believe you shoehorned all of that in that little space, very cool.
brickman-Thanks,I will be very disappointed if it doesn't, the weight distribution is going to be very good, the center of gravity is in a good place, and with the long A arms it should do very well. I used double adjustable shocks all around and have plenty of travel. If I spring it correctly I really don't see why it won't.

What are your plans for the headlights? Not that you need any pointers but I purchased a set of lights from Jesse Greening, in which the rim screws into the bucket...
FATNLO-The idea behind the headlights is to hide that ugly front cross member for the upper control arms. So I needed a very shallow bucket so it could be dropped down low enough to cover the cross member and not stick out past the grill shell. That's the look I'm trying to get, if you look at the rendering you will see my idea. I need a lot of pointers, send them my way.
