Ken how is the time line going? Sounds like you've been running in high gear these last few weeks! All these little details you add really makes your car stand out. It should get some much deserved respect in the upcoming show!
Memo to self..........get propane for the forklift. :D :D :D :D
Don
Don I'll go halfsies on the propane for a free ride!

Ken, your craftsmanship and ingenuity never ceases to amaze me. I look forward to each of your new posts with this project.

I liked the comment here about providing a cigar lighter to use as an auxilliary power outlet. In my case I could use this for a small tire pump and/or charging of a cell phone. The outlets seem to be cheap but probably draw a fairly high amperage to make the filament hot. Here is what I have found so far:

Any comments or suggestions as to a preference here or an alternative site?

I'd be surprised if Auto Zone or even your favorite parts store wouldn't have the same thing as you pictured.
IC2, I just talked to "Rick" at TPI and he recommended I use the line that would have gone to an electric fuel pump that I don't have and has a 30 amp circuit and that JC Whitney has a 12 cigar lighter so I ordered one for $7 plus shipping. Apparently only a few places have the cigar lighter but a review on the JC Whitney site says one guy does use it to recharge a cellphone so that is my intended use.

I Hate You. Can I come work in youuuuuur shop?
Don, 30 amp is too high and could start a fire before the fuse blows. I wouldn't run any higher than 20 amp and what you ordered from JC Whitney you could have found at your local auto parts store or Wally world for less money. There is no difference between a cigar and a cigarette lighter. If you don't smoke there is no reason to buy both elements, but I have found that in most cases they are cheaper when bought in a set.
Steve- I have 3 weeks to make my mind up. I'm finishing up the sheet metal in the interior. I have to put some clearance in the license plate so it opens far enough to get fuel in. Turned on the stereo tonight :D I have to make a Gage panel on the engine, I want to see fuel pressure and oil pressure from the engine compartment. Then I will pull the motor out, and do the mounts for the clutch slave cylinder, duplicate the block plate in stainless steal, paint the scatter shield, and blow the tranny apart and have it polished and clear powder coated replace all the hardware with polished stuff. The tranny is new so I want to do this before I putt any fluid in it for the test drive. Then if every wire in this thing is correct it should start, if it does I will put 200 miles on it and blow it apart. So if it starts with in the next 3 weeks I will enter it in the GNRS. That gives me 6 weeks for paint upholstery and assembly. Now this is where you find out who your friends are, everyone that has helped me says no problem
I cheated on the interior, I just didn't like what I kept coming up with so I hired Steve Stanford to do a rendering on the interior. I just didn't want to leave it up to the upholstery guy, and I kept changing my mind.
I just don't know if this can be done. There is so much to do yet, and I'm tired already. I'm hoping taking the next two days off will re energize me. I sit back and look at this thing and I feel so fortunate to have these problems.
I hope I answered you.
Mike52-You have no idea how all the people on this forum who have made responses makes me work harder. I really want to thank all of you for your nice comments and encouragement.
Don- I know you already bought your 12 volt plugs but I use marine grade electrical parts like this, they are much better, just my 2 cents.
Tasche-I hate you too, now come help me
Ken
You know you are getting close when you can fire up the stereo and put on some good tunes. You weren't playing any of that ROCK AND ROLL, were you??
Don
Yep, had my arm hanging out over the door listening to the Beach Boys
Ken
So.............does that mean you're coming over to visit us in sunny Las Vegas? Tried to call you a few times today but got three rings and a disconnect each time.Quote:

As a funny side note a man knocked on my door with a package addresses incorrectly, but for me. It was the replacement cover seals from Dorman. Too bad I used the stock one in my engine build set last week. Now to see if it will work or if I'll be doing this all over again!:DQuote:

Steve- It varies, usually depends on how long I'm at work. But anywhere from 14 to 16 hours a day, I'm to old for this
Flipper1938-They are 285/50 18 and 235/40 17 Thanks glad you like it.
Ken
Youch! You'll deserve a nice vacation after this!Quote:

I just ordered tires for my wheels (17x7 and 18x9.5). I picked 215/50/17 and 285/60/18. I'm wondering of a picked the right sizes.
Ken if I skip the turkey run this year, I could come out the first of December. More like to I could delay your project for weeks by coming out to help.......LOL
BradC
NTFDAY, Thanks for the comment about the amperage on the cigar lighter, I have enough extra circuits to find a lower value but probably it is easier to just use a lower amp fuse in whatever line I use. That is what is great about this Forum, a dumb question often gets a constructive answer!

You're quite welcome. One other point, I would find a circuit with at least 16 gauge wire and preferably 14 gauge. I also solder most connections and cover the exposed joint with heat shrink tubing.Quote:

I just read back threw past post. What a very nice offer, thank you. Timing wise it should be completely apart at that time frame with parts scattered all over the place.Thank you very much for the offer.
Don-Actually I work on that when I'm supposed to be working at work
Ken
Ken that Brea Fire is a bad one. I hope none of your friends lost their homes!
My sister in law was up visiting, and was quite worried about her coworker who was one block away from the burnt homes on Saturday. Her husband emailed photos of the smoke in their back yard. November and still fire season. We need rain!:HMMM:
On the car note, post some pics while at work!:whacked:
Ken keep me in mind for Jan, if your so incline to enter the GNRS.
BradC
I will, thanks again, we will need all the help we can get. I hope to start it this week. If it runs, barring any wiring problems, it will be the final decision time.Quote:

Have you got any updates on the roadster - I love this thread...
Today is the last day to enter a car in the GNRS, and I'm not going to make it. Believe me I have tried, I'm so burnt out on this thing it feels good to know that I can stop. It doesn't feel good to know that I'm not able to do this, I'm generally not a quieter. But I don't want to trough this thing together either, I have to much work in it.
So, I'm going to stop for a while and take a break. I have a lot of photo's along the way that I just was to tired at the end of the day to post, so later I will post those.
Those that offered to help me, I want to thank you sincerely.
Ken
There will always be shows in the future, so we'll still be here cheering you on. I don't know how you do it to begin with! Your one hard working guy!
I wish I had half of your motivation and even a tenth of your talent! Hang in there!:D
Ken, you and your car are winners with us whether or not you made the GRNS! That has to be the most beautifully engineered and built 32 I have ever seen and I, for one, can't wait to see the rest of the build. You did your best and that is all anyone can do.
Ken, this is an awesome build thread, and an awesome 32!!! Kudos.
Steve, Restorod, Toycollector- Thanks for your kind words.
Well I am motivated again, and will start posting what I have got done. While I was resting and taking time off from my roadster I started chopping my sedan. It cleared my head for the roadster, I think working on another project made me think about how close the roadster is to finishing, so I'm ready to finish it.
I have a lot of reading to do to catch up on things
Ken
This is how I did my pedals, and shifter so everything would match.
