I like the clean style of the interior, looks great.
BradC
Ken, I like the look, the first thing that popped into my mind was a '58-'62 Corvette. Who gets the honors of doing the stitching?
Mike
Looks great! Two tone really sets it off. And the bar between the gauges really stands out in the rendering. What's the oval logo between the seats going to be? It also looks like your going to have a nice sound system in there!
BradC-Thanks, I think if I would of changed it one more time Steve would of thrown it out
Mike52-I hadn't looked at it like that before but your right it has similarities. The guy that is going to do it has a small shop in Long Beach. I really like the quality of his work.
Steve-The emblem will be our club logo which is also in my horn button. I will show you a shot below.
I sent my cases out to get polished, they came out really nice. I have been working on adding on to the block plate to cove up some of the ugly part of the back of the block. If I keep the polished firewall all of this will be seen so it has to be nice looking in the reflection of the firewall. I'm making a dash on the back of the block to mount a fuel pressure and oil pressure Gage.
Ken
Steve, here is the logo that will go in the upholstery.
Ken that should work out very well. The polished parts are really going to be a nice finishing touch. Like the logo. I guess you'll be the official club car!:D
Here is what it looks like with the ugly castings covered up. I'm going to button everything up today so I can put the motor back in. Then I can start it, then maybe go for a spin :)
Ken
That interior design is as good as anything I have ever seen. I can't wait to see the real thing, Ken.
rumrumm- Thanks, I want to see the real thing:D
I bolted everything together today. I just have to detail everything, change out bolts, clean everything up, then put it back in the car and hopefully fire it up
Very nice work Ken!
Ken,
You get things done faster than I but I see about a year's worth of work there to be ready for the GNRS next year. No need to hurry now. Just enjoy the build and detail it to perfection. The interior is an amazing design.
Tom
moter-thanks, it's coming together, I hope to drive it sat.
39Deluxe-You are probably right but I hope not.
I Had a set of my motor mounts made out of stainless, then polished them before I welded them together. I use stainless material whenever there are a lot of angels in the parts. I've found if you have them chromed there will be a lot of flashing in the corners and it doesn't look to good. This way the parts come out very clean, you do have to do a Little touch up after welding. the motor is all out back together and ready to start, here are a few shots. the rolled pan is also finished mounted. I have a little more sheet metal work to do on the body line where it meets the frame. that gap will be just like any other gap ON the car.
I was reading J.Robinson's post on his car and he hit the nail on the head, he was talking about doing all this work and at the end of the day didn't look like he got anything done. That's how I feel these days  It looks funny without a upper radiator hose.
Ken
I hope I get to see your car in person someday. It's just amazing.
Tom
Tom,
When I'm done, you are welcome here any time, I'll take you to lunch in it.
Ken
Ken, I was wondering today about the progress of this car, you haven't posted anything in a while, thanks for the update, it's always nice to see what you've done next. Are you a little nervous about the first test drive, I would be, I don't think I could resist the urge to nail it a few times.........LOL Hope everything goes well this Saturday. Let us now.
Mike
Looking great and getting close!!! Hope to hear all about the fire up and test run next week!!!!
Two hours... it took me to read this entire thread... Absolutely the best thread I've ever seen... Ken, you clearly have a gift... I'm struggling to find words that can adequately express how impressive your concepts, ingenuity, execution, and fabrication skills are... I honestly feel privileged to have been able to experience through your willingness to share with the rest of us the level of detail for all to benefit from... Thank you for sharing!!! http://www.tbucketeers.com/forum/ima...s/thumbsup.gif
I think Ben & Jerry should name an Ice Cream for you too... they should call it "Simply Perfection" :D
I decided to edit this message to explain the ice cream comment as I got a couple of emails asking me what the ??? So here it is... Ben & Jerry's for the month of January has renamed it butter pecan to "Yes Pecan!" ice cream in honor of Obama theme, 'Yes, We Can'
Looking great Ken. A work of art! Don jr.:)
Mike-Yes I'm behind schedule again, I didn't get everything done before I left on vacation. I left cookies and milk out but the fairy's didn't do anything for me
Dave- We went to fire it today but I think my ECM is burnt up  I have a computer guy coming over in the morning to check it. He asked me if I have been welding on the car with it mounted, I have, but it isn't plugged in. So I don't know, I'll know tomorrow.
25Tbucket-Thank you for the nice comments, I'm glad you like it. I will like it better if it starts tomorrow
Don Jr.-Thank you Don.
Since it won't start :eek:I decided to get the trunk sheet metal in. This will be held in place with the steel upholstery clips and the covers for the access panels will be held in place with Velcro. I can hide some small stuff inside of those.
Ken
I like the side panels in metal instead of the cardboard stuff..... They'll keep their shape a whole lot better. More great work, Ken!!! Congrats!
Ken I've been leaving beer and donuts out in the garage and no luck either, the fairies must be on holiday!
Seriously it's great to see you back at it.
Ken, I sent you a 'Private Message'.
Mike
WOW Ken bee you Tee FULL, Love your set up there. Fantastic job on the 32 very, very nice. here's one for ya i sold in 06 Great 8 car in 99. Love the work your doing 1st class for sure.:cool:
Ken,, Where did you get the jack stands that you have under the rear of your Rod?
Dave-Thanks, I agree the paper board stuff just doesn't last. If you look back in my build I did the whole interior that way. I got caught in a rain storm in Kansas in another roadster I had and ruined the interior because of that stuff. I swore then I wouldn't let the upholstery shop do that again, so I make it all out of steel and powder coat it then give it to them.
Steve-Thanks, glad to be working on it again, but it's still not running. I screwed up in the wiring :( I'm sure this is just a hint of things to come
twin blown-Thanks, you have some nice cars.
onemintcaddy-I bought them at Pep Boys, I think they were $30. Pretty handy with the jack and stand all in one. What is nice they are infinitely adjustable, so if you are trying to level something out you can and always know it can't fall on you.
Ken
Well it's still not running :( I took the computer out and had it check and it's OK. I hope it makes noise tomorrow.
I finished the sheet metal in the truck for the upholsterer, so here is a couple shots of that. I just have to have it powder coated,
Ken
Looks great Ken. Can't wait to hear it run!
I don't see how there can be anything wrong under here :LOL: But there was, it just wouldn't start. I finally gave up and called a friend of mine that works at a Chevy dealership, and asked for help.
One of the reasons I used Chevy's off road computer systems in the car was just for this reason. If I'm out in the middle of tim buck too somewhere and it dies, I can take it to a dealer and plug into their system and diagnose it and order what ever parts I need to fix it.
My friend sent over their computer guru. He plugged in their computer and in 30 seconds or less told me my accelerator pedal wasn't any good and I had a dead o2 sensor. I ordered a new pedal assembly and sensor. It came in yesterday, put it in the car and it fired right up :3dSMILE:
So tomorrow is the big day for me, I'm going for a ride :D
Ken
Ken, congrats on finding the problem, glad to hear it wasn't something serious or time consuming. Be sure to let us know how the first ride goes, will be expecting to hear back from you this weekend with a huge grin.
BTW, it was great talking to you the other day, I really appreciate the helpful information and tips.
Mike
Are you going to take us along for a little YouTube ride? :D Looks great Ken. How did it sound?
Don
wow can't imagine why you didn't catch that one Ken?:LOL:
Geeze your wiring even is dizzying! We want photos of the maiden trip.:D
I don't have a clue how to do that. My phone has a video card so I can record it, but I don't know how to get it to my computer.
It sounds BITCHEN' I put a lumpy Comp cam in it.
Well, I ask my grandson if he knew how to do this, he says sure. We did it but it doesn't even sound like my car, it sounds like a lawn mower. I'll try my regular camera tomorrow, unless anyone has a suggestion.
Ken
Well that's one large lawn mower motor..........LOL
Have a safe ride and have your grandson change the blinking 12:00 clock on the VCR.
BradC
Yes folks even the pro's run into road blocks. The difference is, Ken always has a "buddy" who can help out when needed. And Ken, if you say you're not a pro, God will strike you down! You're work is incredible. Congrats on getting her cranked up.
I'd like to hear this one too.
I've been so impressed by your build and now that I've done my wiring I can't believe how nicely you have yours all layed out. I think getting all the lines and wires to look clean has been one of the hardest and most time consuming steps I've done.
Thanks for having such detailed threads.
Sean
Ken
That wiring and plumbing job is simply fantastic! You do great work. That's one fine car.:cool: Good luck on the test drive.
Mike
Ken,
Are you going to have to dissassemble all of that work for paint?
Tom
unbelievably impressive
thank you for sharing!!
BradC-Thanks, these kids are so darn smart.
nutbush-Thank you, it only took 3 years
sgo70-I agree the time it takes for this part of the build is incredible. There are parts of mine that I'm not happy with, so when it gets torn down for paint I will re do it. thanks for you compliments.
Hotrod46- thanks, I have to admit I create a lot of extra work for myself sometimes.
Evolvo- Thanks, it might be a good idea, this will all be torn out when it goes to paint.
Tom- Yes, it all comes apart that why It's done the way it is. It really comes apart pretty easily.
STREETWORKZ-Your welcome, I wouldn't want to be miserable on bad days alone, thanks all of you.
I drove it to work today for the first time. It gets a front and rear alignment
Friday. All is well so far!
Ken
