    Nice column Ken, I noticed you use nylon bushes, I use the same but some people over here say to use bearings, I just can't see the need for them myself.
    Its aweful lonesome in the saddle since my horse died.

    Don - Thanks, yes, I can go in either direction. Also I can slow it down or speed it up with the pitman arm by varying the length. So unless I have made a catastrophic mistake I should be covered. It is so tight by the headers I'm going to have to relieve the body some and put a small tunnel in the underside of the collector for the tie rod end to clear it's travel path. But getting the geometry correct was most important to me. I want it easy to steer and no bump steer, it's for my wife.

    Well you guys have scared the bejesus out of me, so I went back to the body shop and got some different stuff, I'll get the name when I get to work and see if you have heard of it.

    Steve - Yes, I only use nylon now. I have tried them all, oil lite bushings, roller bearings, sealed bearings, I don't see any difference. I like doing it this way because when I use a little interference when I press them in, than I ream the ID so I get the clearance I want on the steering shaft.

    Well the insert is welded in. It came out really nice, I believe I will be able to metal finish it. All the time it took to make the bracing inside was worth it. It kept the shape threw the whole process. Now I can beat on it and everything stays put. I hate body filler, this way I think primer will take out any small imperfections.
    The photo isn't very good.

    Good lookin' roof ya got there Ken, it came out really nice! Takes a lot of time and patience to do it right, but it's still a lot quicker then doing it all over!!!!!

    Nice flat and clean lines! Are you guys planning anything color wise for the paint job? Or classic primer gray? I like the gray because it hides most of my dings!

    roadster32 - Thanks Steve, I'm really pleased with it. I have to tell you I was dreading welding it in. I just didn't want to screw it up after all the time I had in it.

    Dave Severson - Thanks Dave, yep, to cut it back out would of screwed up more than what I started with.


    stovens - No this one is going black with the blood red interior that match the wheels. I think this thing will come out pretty straight. I'm only capable of going so far then the body shop will put the final touches on it and paint it.

    Well, I have decided to make a change of plans. Thanks to Robot (Mike in Tucson) phone call.
    I have been looking for another quick change for my truck project. I wanted an original Halibrand with the bolt on bells like I have in my sedan. So I could make the bells out of stainless steel to go along with the theme of the truck. Just so happens Mike has this Winters quick change from his Dearborn Deuce project that he isn't going to use and only wants $500 for it. So I pulled the rear end out of the sedan and will use that one in my truck and put the Winters in my sedan.

    Sweet looking Winters setup. That with the stainless frame is going blind anyone driving behind you! Your going to have to park this one on mirrors.

    I sold it Ken on the cheap because he had these pictures....you see, it was worth the sale to get the negatives from him.....

    Spent the better part of the day drilling holes in the new brackets for the Winter's Quick Change. Some thing take a little longer than others.
