    Hope the "re-paint" goes well. In todays pic that color looks more orange than in the previous pics. Either way I think it's going to look very cool!

    In a previous post you asked me whether my 37 has a tool compartment in the floor of the trunk......it does..in the rear section by the tailpan. The trunk floor replacement kit stops right at the edge of that tool compartment. As I recall, my dad fashioned a new tailpan from the decklid of a salvaged 65 Mustang. I will probably try to save that rather than spending a few hundred more dollars on a repro-tailpan and tool compartment.

    Anyway, good luck with your painting today!

    Painting ends up to be done tomorrow early AM - I had to clean the NE rust belt areas winter's worth of dirt out of the garage first. I have no clue how that much crud landed on the partitioned off side though both stalls seemed to almost "knee deep". Then I had to 'find' my work bench so a day of delay in painting - no big deal

    The orange seems to be getting deeper as it ages - and is something the SPI's Barry K said it would.

    Hey, with the tool comp't and tail pan, as long as it works, isn't rusted out and has the right shape, why spend the time as well as the money. At the rate you're "uncovering" projects, there has to be something more important

    Back to my garage clean up.

    This is still tacky clear coat - done ~10 minutes before the photo. I also did some touch up on the RF fender, left hood top plus painted the steering-wheel to-column adapter. I have a wee bit more where I got some seam sealer on both of the rear fenders but it's on an inner edge so it might just not get done Edit:just did 'em anyhow!! The firewall turned out probably as good as any piece on the car - and will not need any more then a light buff to finish

    Looks great Dave! Makes me really want to paint mine soon....but.....one of these days......

    I added a few pics and thought you guys would be interested. Go to, www.flickr.com/photos/14832088@N06 I have the tailpipes roughed in and they seem to work well. Just love the sound at the back of the car and it's not overkill inside! Crappy weekend here so I stayed at the house and became bored (but warm) so no harm, no foul! Later!

    Starting to really look like a car - looks great. You're about at that point where it ALL comes apart again for paint That's where you learn that your memory isn't quite as good as you thought as to what bolt, shim or widget goes where and mounted how(?) months later when it's all nice and shiny

    For shame not working on the car this weekend - and I should talk - I got only an hour or so on mine as I had to maintain that relationship with my wife and do what dutiful husbands seem to have to suffer occasionally - a day "out shopping". But we went to buy some yard plantings to replace the ones the local deer population savor - another honey-do in the making

    I let my wife do some cooking on Saturday so I was hurting for the rest of the weekend! I did a little work, going to add some longer wheel studs as I don't like what's there now. Ordered the parts and hoping my stomach feels better!

    Be nice - it wasn't her fault !!

    I had to add longer studs to the rear as the Billet Specialties wheels are a lot thicker - the fronts were fine. Not a bad job, just a bit mean to get the replacements in straight. I'd probably redrill, tap and use bolts if I was to do it again.

    Usually I do ALL the cookin'! She just never gets it right! No Kiddin'! I don't know what she does but, her cookin' just sucks! She got me again!

    It's funny on the wheel studs, the front use a smaller knurl than the back. Kugal vs Currie??? Anyway, when I'm done they'll all be a 5/8" knurl 3" long ARP from Jegs

    If we were to depend on my cooking, I'd weigh 98 pounds or have cholesterol that's off the charts - not one of those things I like to do, but can in a pinch, like tonight.

    My back wheel studs came from my local auto supply store and are Dorman's. You might find that 3" is awfully long if you have closed end acorn lug nuts.

    I guess that explains my weight issue...
    Yes, 3" will be long! but that way I can turn'em in the lathe and fine tune the length to be just right for the front and rear! I want as much thread contact as I can get.

    I feel like I'm on the home stretch - I hung the driver's door today and the passenger side is within an hour or so of going on

    A baby step in the scheme of this thing - but at least it's starting to look "whole" again.

    I have also discovered to my disgust that I'm a better mechanic then a body person (have to be diversity wise correct) but it still looks ok

    That's awesome! I am so jealous! From your pics, your a right smart man with the paint and bondo too! I am rushing to get it registered by July. I just want to legally take it for a quick ride.. Just one quicky to put a smile on my face!

    The body went on this morning - and only three "aw s**ts" found so far and none of them are much. Fuel filter bracket needs to be shortened 3/4", remote MC fill needs a 45* AN fitting and 4 seat bolts need to be studs instead as the splash shields are in the way.
