I have used a program called Picture.Resize.Genius. you can resize a complete folder of pictures at once instead of one at a time.

Seems to me that everyone is not going to go to the trouble of resizing their pictures (or take time to learn how to resize pictures) as long as the big files can be uploaded to the site. The way to handle the huge, high resolution files is to put a limit on file size/pixel dimensions for the upload process, if the oversized pictures are considered to be a problem. There have been a bunch of free programs cited or linked here, some easier and more convenient to use than others. Seems it must not be a problem?? That said, pictures small enough to be downloaded quickly via dial-up modem are probably going to be like avatars!!

    Well said, Roger !

However, I try to make sure that they don't require a side to side scroll and I promise to pay more attention to the size when I upload them.
