    Re-sized Pictures??.

Still a newbie here, but I wanted to bring forward to everyone's attention the number of posts that do not have pictures resized.Tonight I had a craving to read about a rod that was in the build stages. You know bare metal being made into hot rod.I know that by coming here I am going to see the best of the best. But when I went to view three threads, none had pictures resized.Kind of killed that craving into frustration. Now I know I have dial-up,but I would think given that fact where I live not being able to get anything else,I am not alone with that problem.

So I am asking the staff and members to please try to remember this old boy and please resize your pictures in your build threads.

yea, I'm guilty.. I update my build on 3 diffrent sites, and I just hotlink the pictures from my tinypic account which are on the large side.. this site actually has a 360k per picture limit for self hosted pictures, but externally hosted pictures have no limit... you can look at the pictures directly from my tinypic page tho.. all in thumbnail.. 1st and 2nd pages contain my hotrod build http://tinypic.com/2mpk6r5t I'll have to make further pics smaller

I have used a program called Picture.Resize.Genius. you can resize a complete folder of pictures at once instead of one at a time.

Seems to me that everyone is not going to go to the trouble of resizing their pictures (or take time to learn how to resize pictures) as long as the big files can be uploaded to the site. The way to handle the huge, high resolution files is to put a limit on file size/pixel dimensions for the upload process, if the oversized pictures are considered to be a problem. There have been a bunch of free programs cited or linked here, some easier and more convenient to use than others. Seems it must not be a problem?? That said, pictures small enough to be downloaded quickly via dial-up modem are probably going to be like avatars!!

    Well said, Roger !

However, I try to make sure that they don't require a side to side scroll and I promise to pay more attention to the size when I upload them.

I usually resize mine to 50-75% of the original ( 2.1MP camera ) with Gimp which is a free photoshop like program.. so my pictures are at or around 900x700, which is 200 pixels more than 'ideal' for a web forum, but still small enough so there not side scrollers on a 17"+ monitor.. going down to a 800x600 will be better for everyone tho
