Boots don't break in, your feet do. If they aren't comfortable when you first put them on, don't buy them cause they don't fit. My friend Tim Powell sells Redwings in Rapid and he will keep trying till he finds the most comfortable fit. Might take a lot of tries, but I haven't had a uncomfortable pair of boots in the last 25 years. A good fit makes a heavier boot a lot lighter to wear.
