watch how you drive

The other day, I am sitting in my little chevette going to work.. in my dark blues, wearing shades and my cru cut.... all of which makes me suspiciously look like an off duty cop anyway.

Well, i am sitting at a red light, and the moment it turns green, this kid on a crotch rocket screams around me on the right, driving through the gutter.

Well, he stops accelerating when he gets to the speed limit and I am able to catch up to him.

I shoved my concealed weapons permit ( GOLD BADGE ) through the window, and I think he nearly soiled himself.

After that, he slowed down, stayed W A Y behind me, and drove like a decent human being.


Hey, i just showed off my concealed weapons badge, what he made of it is of his doing.

GOD IT WAS SO FUNNY! Dude TOTALLY thought he just pissed off an off duty cop!

I got one for you! I've driven fuel trucks for the last 20 some years now.
Well comming in and out of the port from getting our fuel there is all kinds of railroad
tracks. We must stop for all the tracks and cars get pissed and race around us on double yellow lines. Since alot of our turn are just before or after the crossings, drivers are getting run into all the time, by people that get in a hurry.
So I had some train horns installed on the truck.
You've never seen anyone turn white till you see them come acrossed a double yellow line and come around at 45mph when the limit 20mph and hear them train horns and knowing they can't stop it time. Yep that look of fear in their eye's and skidding
tires tell the whole storie. I even got one of the fuel deptment managers who came up laughing saying you got me, what else could he say he knew he was wrong.
I know it sounds mean but it wouldn't be any better if there was a train comming and they blew us all up just because thier in a hurry.
So I just give them a little to think about, if you know what I mean. Kurt

Glad to see you're having fun with the kids down there in Georgia.:D Had it been me, I would never have pulled over for anybody in a Chevette, matter of fact there were days gone by that I probably wouldn't have pulled over for a real marked car. :eek:

Just about any crotch rocket bigger than a Vespa, would leave the Chevette in the dust. Guess you got lucky the kid wasn't on a big bike.:LOL:

Well, have fun with that till you try it on a real cop......

And like Mopar said, even in the shop truck I sure as heck wouldn't pay much attention to a Chevette---if it was the Chief of Police driving it.....:LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL::LOL:

It might have been even more amusing if the kid on the crotch rocket turned out to be a under cover cop or an recent police academy graduate.:LOL::LOL::LOL:

Yes, that would have been amusing.. to see th look on the cop/academy graduate's face when they are standing at attention in front of their boss's desk, explaining why they illegally passed on the right..and the look on his boss's face when I ask him if this is the standard of conduct I can expect from his subordinates.

AS for me being 'lucky' the kid wasn't on a bigger bike.. his bike was plenty big enough to dust a chevette!

Actually, it probably wouldn't have happened except that I was already in a fowl mood.. Two intersections earlier a big black truck turned right into the roadway, cutting me off. I had to swerve hard to the right ( I was lucky that the lane was available ) and passed him. Well, then he pulls up beside, me, reving his engine, and swerving within inches of my vehicle. He had blacked out windows, and I couldn't see in. yes, I was concerned for my safety. I was in the process of drawing my Springfield .40 when he decided to back off.

If I was next to you and saw you draw your gun and I was in a car! I would turn into you so fast you wouldn't have had time to think! It would Not have been the 1st time for me, would it be for you??? On a bike, I'd hit the brakes, and now I'm behind you in your blind spot with the gun! Either way, you'd loose, not me!

Watch who you play with, they might have already planed what to do.

So, you're in a bad mood, flashing some silly badge, and start pulling a gun!!!! Wow, and we don't need to be concerned about people carrying concealed weapons!!!!! actually, without realizing it, you made the very points I was trying to make.

You think you can intimidate / assault people because you are driving a bigger vehicle? think twice, it could end badly.

I have a very SERIOUS attitude / responsibility towards weapons. Carrying is a privledge which one can easily loose ( as you inferred ). I would NEVER draw my weapon unless I was going to use it. Dude's pass side door would have had three or four holes in it before he ever saw the weapon.

Doesn't sound like a good ending for either of us, does it?

No, I don't go around waving my gun at random people for some subverterd feeling of superiority or power. In the years that I have carried, this was the first time I started to draw. I guess you just weren't there, or else I didn't describe it well enough.

And for the kid on the bike.. who knows, he might think twice before he drives stupid, just because he doesn't 'see' any cops. Might even save his or anothers life? Oh, and btw, it was also the first time I 'flashed my badge'. And, I never had any intention of shooting the punk on the bike. He was ( mostly ) just endangering himself.

Firebirdclone, you should not post your road rage problems with a gun, in a non gun type forum. Posts like this in gun related forums would get you roasted, especially the part about a "badge", I know of no badges issured to CCW permit holders. You and I know the only reason to pull a weapon. If you were in a vehicle and could leave the scene, you did not have justification to pull your weapon. Had you shot someone from your car, with them in another vehicle, you would be typing in prison now. Why don't you ask the moderators to delete this thread nothing good can come of it.

I am very pro-gun but.....it's an irresponsible attitude that will get our gun rights taken away...and all it will take is a small change in public attitude.

Concealed carry pemits should be shown to two classes of persons; appropriate law enforcement persons who ASK to see them and to the person at the counter when you buy a gun. Nobody else should see the permit; waving it around will certainly help most people develop an anti-gunner attitude.

Here in Arizona, we just had a case of a guy who was "cut off" by a speeder....the guy pulled the speeder over and it was a cop on his way home. Impersonating an officer is a crime in most states and waving a fake badge, a badge-looking device, etc is included in that crime definition. This guy in Arizona now has charges filed against him.

I may carry a gun but I do so with the intent that most people do not know that I carry...flaunting it will only provoke a fight...and nobody ever wins in a fight anymore.

I was thinking the same way and didnt like how this thing went down either.I did not reply earlier thinking I would be accuse of being to harsh.

My wife was telling me about a situation at her job where a couple young guys with a concealed license started a big deal about carrying there guns on the job site, they build tractors.... The company broke down and told them they can carry on premises if guns are not loaded. Now , what kind of sense does that make? Does it make some people feel like a bigger guy to have a gun. Why fight to carry and let everyone know you are caring with no bullets? Just plain stupid to me. Point of my story , just to point irresponsibility of owning a gun.....I have owned pistol i carry for the last 20 years and know one has seen it.
