Parkwood, is your cooler the 12" or 18" version?
12" because it's a double i didn't think i needed the 18". Bob Drake had them on sale at a goodguys show so that's what i went with..
Well i did get a few things done the past couple days.. The wiring was completed and tested.. Got the Dash up off the floor and bolted in along with the steering column. Was hoping to fire it before i left for Bakersfield's Hot Rod Reunion this coming weekend but not sure that will happen until i get back on Monday... why rush it now.. still have to add all the fluids and the gas tank sending unit i have is one from Classic Instruments thats float less and has to be set up with a full tank of gas in order for the gas gauge to read right... also have their GPS for the speed O and it has to be set up too..
Very nice Parkwood! I love the attention to detail! Your chassis is so very nice!
Nice! Love the orange color and orange accents.
Parkwood-got two items for you today----
I'm not sure if I'll get away to go to the CHRR at Bakersfield, but if I do I'll be around the pit with Cruz Pedregon and the California Charger ( or near by)
And an area I'm totally sure that you will do perfect, but I'd like to call attention to it for others to be aware of in their builds---------The dipstick (SS braided hose) for the tranny is mounted in an area that will have sparkplug wires run nearby, and the torqueing of the block with the dipstick fastened to the body will/can cause some abrasive wear on the plug wires, followed by all kinds of weird electrical happenings besides the ignition/plug misfire--------For instants----maybe a high voltage shock when you move the shifter(especially reverse with the engine shifting over) crossfiring to other cylinders, erratic electronic guage readings, etc and worst of all-----when that scantily clad rollerskating waitress brings you that order and touches your car, she'll probably spill the root beer all over the door and you--------
Thanks Ryan, take a good look because it won't every be this clean again...
Thanks Lynn, at first i thought it would be to much, and for some it might but it looks ok to me..
First if you do make it to Bakersfield i'll look for you if i can find Cruz's pit.. we'll be in a '32 roadster (pictured) dark green, looks black.. it'll have a hard top painted the color of the car... flames down the side.. My friend has painted 3 dragsters that will be on display at the track and one i think at the host hotel on Friday night for the cacklefest they have there...
Second yes i know about the shock effect on the plug wires and was looking at mine today after we put the diet. back in and mine do touch just a little.. i think i'll put a clear piece of tube on the dip stick right where it touchs the wire.. but getting trailered every where i should never wear through... wait i just got some bad taste in my mouth...
Hope to see you but seems like it will be impossible to get away this week-wife has other family plans---couple days with her 89 year old mother, Saturday at pumpkin patch with 4 month old grandson and lists of things she wants me to finish so we can sell this place and leave Illinois!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And green used to be one of my favorite colors---------------and flames---------------
Ok noted,, i'll see if i can take a few pictures to share...and watch out for those 89 and 4 year olds they'll get you...
I think I took couple thousand last year----lots of them are around here somewhere-
I took almost all video with a few shots last year but not sure i can put video on here..??
I just did a TTT from last year---dam, I'm getting p-o-ed about not getting to go
yeah but you get to go to the pumpkin patch and i just have to go hang out at some old race track with a bunch of old guys... who wins here??
but I could take him with me-they have pumpkins out there also
Well today was kind of a mile stone as i got to start the coupe up as a complete car.. it sounded good with a little bit of rumble and a deep throat sound.. only got to hear it run for about 30 secs after the exhaust was completed so i was waiting to hear how it would sound after it was all together.. two bugs to work out but no big deal on those... got my application for the GNRS so now the pressure is on to get it completed...
That's nice,parkwood.:cool:.Soon get that dirty.;);).Grasstrack,,somewhere calling you..:LOL::LOL:
One word... BEAUTIFUL!
Yep, you've done a great job on this one! The color pops, and the pinstriping sets things off without being over the top. Now how to resist driving it until the GNRS??
Love it! Well done!!
Absolutely top-line professional work on this one, Parkwood. (I'm jealous of the amount of room you have under your car)
Thank you Robin, oh and it'll get dirty i'm sure...
Thanks Roger, i've still got some Jimmy the Greek stripping to go down the sides on the belt lines and some strips on the louvers but i've got to take it to So. Calif. just before the GNRS to get that done. Don't worry i'll drive it as much as it can before i go...
I had said that i had a two bugs to work out, well today was more like fighting pigs than bugs... I put one of classic Instruments float less gas tank sending units in my tank because it was made to be 100% right on, it worked off pressure in the tank... to set it up to read right you had to fill the tank to the full mark and touch a ground wire to a 12vdc for 10 secs and you were done.. when i filled it up 15gals. and turned on the key the gas gauge didn't move at all... after all the checking, gauge ok, wired right the only thing it could be was the sender.. to late to call classic so i waited until this morning to call and was told the senders were having so many problems that they sent them all back and ask me if i wanted a refund... after the shock and being a little pissed wore off i had to empty the tank of 15 gals of gas, pull the battery, pull the tank, replace the sender with one that came with the gauges which now works 100% right on and then put it all back together fill it up and test the gauge again... and on top of that one of the heater hoses i had made up leaked at the crimped end so the water had to be drained and pulled the hose off and took it back to have another one made... I really guess i'm lucky because the two problems weren't our fault but still had to be fixed and wasn't the end of the world. if that's all that goes wrong i'll be very happy...
Well today i got the water hose back and installed and no leaks.. great.. put the front inter fender back on and did some tweaking to the carb. and timing getting it to idle a little smoother.. Also installed something that now i won't worry about so much when i leave my car in a hotel parking lot over night and wake up the next morning hoping it'll be there or if i'll every see it again... if you would like to see what it is go to Arrow Track | GPS Tracking System from Eclipse Engineering and take a look... to many cars go missing and never seen again...
Wow, you have done an awesome job on it! That pinstriping is very nice too! I am thinking of going hoodless on my 40 now but i've had my reservations with all the handsy folks in parking lots like you said.
An alternative that I used is a little Garmin unit with a "Tracker" application on the phone and laptop - https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/digital...prod67686.html User defined "Geo Fence Areas" that can be set up in a minute or two, with e-mail notification if the car exits the "fence". It's about 1.75" X 3", used for tracking everything from dogs to backpacks to hot rods. I used a hidden lighter socket power cord to keep it powered 24/7 with a very low (miliamp) drain. Works for me... but hasn't been "tested" yet and I hope it never is!!!
Thats great Roger, anything to help get your car back or best of all give you peace of mind while it's not in your site.. This one cost a little more but for all that it does just made me feel a little safer.. I've had a friend get his '56 nomad ripped off last year just after getting it completed and it wasn't a good feeling and it wasn't even mine... state farm forked over 6 figures for that one... And like you hope i never have to test it out..
Well it seems like for every that i've posted a picture of something getting done. After spending three day color sanding and rubbing we got the doors and deck lid on the coupe today.. just one more thing to check off the list..
Simply BEAUTIFUL!
Awesome!!!!
Absolutely Beautiful!
Ooooh yes.
I hadn't considered thieves, concerning an open hood.
I suppose security fasteners would help. Would make maintenance a little troublesome.
