Wow alright and yes please thankyou, we do need photos of the car with the bonnet and side panels on it too. Hood is what you fellas call it but we on the remote islands call them bonnets for some unknown reason. I do admire the tyre wheel choice and especially the rear tyres and how they fit the rear of the body line so closely. It is those details that really make a car outstanding.
It really looks awesome! You've done an awesome job!!!!
Thanks a lot Ryan, still got somethings to do and if you guys know anything about getting a specially constructed vehicle to the point so you can the registration done so you can get a license plate on it here in Calif. you have to jump though some hoops… Had to meet with the CHP so they could put a VIN number on it, go and have a brake and light insp. done, and meeting with the smog referee on Thur. to get a smog certification on it so i'll never have to have a smog check done again… so far i've put out about $2300 in taxes and fees.. welcome to the world of hot rodding in Calif.. On a more up beat note the guy who is doing the interior came by tonight and we talked about getting it in his shop by the end of the month… up dated coming….
I'm in Mass and this state used CA for their model, both for emmisions and titling/registrations. Getting the VIN was a bit worrisome at times but the real hassle was getting the title resolved. Seems the title division wanted things one way and the registrar wanted things a different way. So I got stuck in the middle with a car that I was able to register but couldn't get an inspection sticker as the computer program they use would lock out the inspector as soon as the title number was entered.
Took about 4 months before they resolved their issues and all's well now. Best part for me was I get through before the new rules came into effect so it's exempt from emmisions and won't need the oem certifications.
I'm looking forward to your interior updates, if it's half as nice as the rest of the build, it'll be one sweet ride!:)
I hate that they use Calif. for any kind of model for anything… the state found out that they were losing money in taxes by guys lying to get registration on their cars.. they made it so hard it was easier to cheat… to build a car here they give out 500 free numbers a year so you can build a car and get it so you never have to have smog on it..
We share the same thought on that topic!
Right now in MA guys are registering cars in neighboring states and waiting a year then moving the car to MA after the title comes in from the state they chose to register it. There's even guys who (nod nod/ wink wink) "buy" your car, then register it in their "home" state, then once the title shows up they "sell" it back to you..:HMMM:
Situation Normal.. FUBAR!
This is a test picture of my coupe just before getting pin strips for the GNRS.. i resized them and want to make sure they fit and not too small..
one more test shot.
Perfect! The car I mean! LOL..
Nice color
Well guys i've hope i got the resize of the pictures worked out.. To catch you up on whats been going on the past few months i'll start by saying it was down to the wire getting the car done in time for the GNRS end of Jan.. I got the car back about 4 days before we had to leave to go down to the show and didn't get time to put more than 30 miles on it... Had to be and my buddy's shop on the monday before my set up date which was Thur. to getting all the stripping put on the car and get the sign done... It took until late Wed. night to get it all done and made it for set up day on Thur at noon... Show went well but was a long week for us.. Got home after 8 days and had about 2 and a half weeks to rest up before the Sacramento Autorama in Feb... Took 2nd in my class with a best paint award too... but sure glad the show world is over.. Do have a few bugs to work out but looking forward to hitting the road as soon as i can.. These are a few shots of the coupe in the shop getting her strips...
Just a few more showing the lines going on.. took all day Monday to put all the black on.. lot of louvers
Getting her done.. all back together on Wed. night and ready for the show..
Very nice, thanks for sharing.
I was wondering the other day where you went to. Those stripes sure set it off! Congrats on the best paint, and 2nd in your class! The coupe really looks stunning!
Beautiful car! And it's just right!!
Over the years I've gotten away from the 30's rods, but I really gotta like this one, color is great, stance is great, everything is great!!!! Very, very nicely done!
