Two belts? Uhmmmmmmm, that might work on my belly, probably weighs more than the keg.....................
We used to glue belts over the top of steel strapping to hide the ugly steel (no pun intended, well maybe a little).

I replaced the steering hoop, old welds were not so great on and real rusty, with a new one,new is well made but kind of standard,so added a custom cover plate I made of alum and polished some now, more on finish, that gives it at lest some holes a little like my old arm.Ya I always liked holes, they look sexy.
Later after getting all stuff together again, comes take it all apart to clean ,sand and nice shiny paint/polish,but for now one part at a time fixed.
Looks like the reverse of a Kennedy half, Bat? How'd you attach them - JB Weld or something like that?
Yup,I don't know ,coins are 1960 as I remember,I'm not going to try and get them off enless they get loose the're still hard glued ,my Dad had some kind of boat glue stuff like JB or Marine tex, what ever it was ,was good stuff but paint didn't stick to it for long,Dad built sailboats in Coconut Grove Fla. in the mid 50's to the early 60's,he worked in WW2 for Bell on the XP77 all molded plywood fighter plain, could do anything out of wood
The Kennedy Half's are '64 at the earliest - that's the first year that they were issued, but you can't see the year without popping them loose, and no reason to do that. Kind of like the old penny loafer's...
Here's the rebuilt 12volt sockets from the parts out of new trailer lite set from HF @ $9.99 ,parts put into my old Rayo drivinglamps, 1900's Gas lites I used for tail lights. I'll need to redo my old paint too, get these lites back up to highgloss again, but had to get them working now first.
Looking good! Keep up the good work!
I had used the small redglass side of these old lites before, but have deside to put the red trailer lite lenz inside of the magnafied headlite side,it will give a bigger taillight for safety in today higher car counts on the roads. They really are much briter this way and 4in. of red vs just over 2in. old way.
Too bad you couldn't fit a truck lite super 40 led light in there. You'd have plenty of light back there then.
Took it all back apart down to bear frame so I could box it,weld up uneeded holes, smooth and paint. My garage is a bit small and too much rain going on and still hot as &*^%,so working inside on frame with two sawhorses with a come-a-long holding it up just in case. No were to jump out of way if it falls off. Anyway with level at each end of frame so I can keep any twist out as I'm boxing this old baby. The motor mount now has a new design were center can unbolt that I made so if needed,I can remove oilpan. The level is used at each end of frame so it dose not get a twist in it as I do this boxing.
I did a tech on rearching my springs, but should placed it here;http://www.clubhotrod.com/shop-talk/...ring-tech.html
Got a lot done , Got it to roll again on it's own wheels. Even hooked up shocks and brake lines.
But 2 steps foreword and one back. I had rebuilt my front brake about two and hafe years ago,but they just sat this hole time and have already turned back to rusted crap,so had to order new front brake clys. Most of the rest is shaping up again. I ran brake lines and was thinking I could bleed them, when hiding cly rust shit hit fan by leaking out the drum,so redo.
Fitted Y-block back in,still a lot of little things to do before getting back to big stuff like body, paint and intearier, windsheild ect.
Hey Bat, that old Y Block sure does look good in there!!!!! Haven't ran one of them for many moons, would be fun to find a 312 some day and a suitable project to put it in!!! Thanks for the inspiration!
Everything is looking really good, keep up the great work!!!!!!!!!
Awesome work! When you were welding on your frame, did you just watch the levels and if you say any change, just move to the other side or opposite corner to counter the heat transfer?
