RSPEARS,,,yes,,Hiding under the Black belts around the keg are steel straps holding it to 1/4round cratel welded to rear frame, the kegs could hold as much as 15.5 gal. but better to put only a max of 14. That seems tobe about 140+ miles be for it's emety.
There is also a cutoff valve at bottom of tank. Both my rod and his are this way.
I had done some tech back in time,on when we did the seats and stuff in my son's rod;

Lacking still steering box mount and newer brake/clutch pedals, but with body close,I'll get to tham.

Bat,
The beer keg stories are great. That kind of "provenance" as they say on Antique Road Show, adds so much to the personality of the hot rod. I was hearing the theme song to "The Godfather" as you were mentioning Mr. Capone and Lansky.
-
Glad ya liked the provenance. The new metal we put into the old rear Q and the new left side one we made from scatch, didn't get the old back cut off angel just right yet and the body is about two in. to high on frame in photo, but I'll get it. Some parts I replaced completely are way better then the ones I had in late 1950s,making it hard to deside what to do with very bottom body line that was so rusted away I cut it off then, but could fix now or not have it cuz it so looked right to me then to do that, kept body from looking fat to me then,I'm feeling same way now kind of.

It's looking really nice!

Got only a little done this weekend, found good fit rad hose for top and bottom and also the clamps. Started working on designing so new brake and clutch pedals with MC mount, this will replace my swing set up with new under floor design this time around ,to clean up fire wall look and keep me from having to find lost parts of old pedals that I didn't like that well anyway. Will post photos of them after I have other then cardborad cut outs to show.

Sounds like you're making great progress!

I designed this brake and mec clutch pedal set up for underfloor this time, cuz I went to a duelmaster cly now and never really liked the feel of swingpedals.
-
Time for a new duelmaster cly,so I designed a under floor set up for this along with the clutch pedal that is a Z-bar type all in one design. After looking at some aftermarket deels I didn't like designs or high cost of,I just did it my self from scatch. I had two old left over pedal arms that kind of matched with pretty good rubber foot pads[not shownsnap on later] that I liked,so used part of them as top part of new homemade arms to go with the new duelmaster cly. By designing it in a box I can get the stuff together and working out side and then just add it to the frame. Though some one may benafit from seeing this set up as I designed, built ,cuz brake and clutch combo is not out there like this one.
Clutch pull rod goes from pedal Z,up into bellhosing arm that I drilled a hole in at the point that the scocket is and were I have a lug nut/taper into reses and then two nuts that can adjust it and lock to each other. The brake mastercly push rod has adjuster in it's center.
I added a few more holes to give me other rod mounts,so we also have from about 8 to 1 up to about 9 to 1

Trying to make a fan shrud this time, didn't ever have one,but thinking it to be a good idea as long as I'm doing a lot of little updates anyway, also going to add a little step on pass side for wife get in now,.

Here is my designed new pedals welded and painted, ready to install.http://ruffrodders.com/forum/picture...pictureid=3526
I also cut up a old gas pedal to make it smaller for replacing my bad one, added more arm to it then I need,so cut arm down later to right size needed when I fine that out

That pedal design should work out great in the car, looks to be nice and sturdy, too!!!!

I always liked my little details that shine from 1959 to 60 I added these, like ones I don't see on other rods much are my fav.s,seems there is a lot more stuff now to pick from,vs make your own like back when I first built my rod. There are some great things ya can buy,but I'm still low buck builder at hart. I got a lot of cleaning, painting and polishing still to do,but a pic or two of my old details maybe fun to see. The brake air scoops are made from old stop sign, there is still some stop sign paint on the inside,I like it and leve it there. Chrome was hard to comeby but polishing stuff was only my time and I always love shiney stuff,my kingpins are topped off with some extra shine by the 50cents I added to them=needs some polish now but what better way,I did the same thing to my tierod ends but used 25cent with grease zert in center, they were brand new coins back then.
