The old log manifolds certainly did have the eye appeal, Bat!!!! Sure will look good sitting between a pair of T-Bird valve covers on that old Y-Block!!!!!!

Yes 6x2 is very very cool, looks super in that photo! But I already have four 94's in good shape that match to use on this fun n games. Plus -Years back I helped a buddy try and tune 6x2s on his "Y",we had some probs with a flat spot we never did get right, just better after a time. Frankly I think we had more carb then the Y-292 could take with 6x2

Bat, your're right, four will be hard enough to tune. I was just messin' with you a little, and your response was perfect!
The 6x2 was at Ottawa this year, and a buddy stopped by and said, "Ya' gotta go over and look at the engine in that one!", so I picked up the camera and took a stroll. He said he talked to the guy, who said he had done the six carbs because he found the manifold, and to be unique, but that it was a royal PITA to tune! Sure looks sexy, though!

My son had 3 deuces on his sedan for a while. It looked cool and was completely trouble-free. . . because only the center carb was functional! The other two were completely blocked off. My point is, you can put as many as you want on there for looks and make as many of them work, or not, as you want.

The trick to using 6 is to build progressive linkage so that the 2 center carbs are the ones you're driving on and the end 4 only only open after the engine somewhere past 1/2-3/4 throttle.

It's actually easier to just dial in the 2 center carbs on a 6 carb setup than it is to synchronize all 4 carbs on a 4 carb setup.

Your point is well taken MikeP,
The flat spot we had all the probs with on my buddys 6x2 was when we would open the end 4 carbs,it was progressive and ran fairly well on just the two center carbs. We did keep moving the last 4 carbs to higher an higher RPM.coming in around 4000 seemed to work better then lower, but the valve spring were only good for about 5500.
I got started on some fab work, here a few photos of parts I made so far.
The first thing I did was the coolingwater cross over, most of the time on log intakes they just hook up two lines into a "Y" to rad,but leve out the thrimastat. I though about that an desided to do it so I could just hook up my reg rad hose an have the little bypass too that Ford Y uses to de-air the water plus have stock thrimastat. The two stubs are for adding to intake flange for the short hoses, those flange plates are yet to be made, but will look a bit like a intake gasket, but thicker

    fuel log

    Thanks.
One of the things I'm going to need for 4x2's is a fuel log. After looking at the $cost of 4 out fuel logs,I desided to just make one myself. Hunting around the shop for something ,I can up with a peice of Stanless steel box tube 1,in. X 1,in. OD. I cut the ends so I could fold a flap down to close them up an welded the ends. Drilled an taped 5 holes ,4outlets an one in let, these are spaced out for carbs. I polished it up before adding fittings.

Ain't that the truth. Even the 3 outs which are a lot more common aren't cheap. After looking at the price on those I built hard lines that eliminated the need for a log.....of course they don't give the brass fittings away either. Nice work on the log.

Speaking of brass fittings, I recently spun one up on the lathe: a double barb fitting to adapt 1/4" tubing to 3/8" tubing. I totally destroyed a nice piece of brass rod, figuring out how to machine that soft stuff. Now I understand why they cost so much!

I got a frenid thats going to make me the intake flanges,at his work place with a jet cutter. Thats going to save a lot of work right there. I had not done anything yet ,other make a pattern,so took that offer up with a smile plus!!!Going to save me some time, great to have buddy's.
That got me going a little faster with trying to put some of the parts I have made together. Thinking over the best order and how to hold stuff for welding. I came up with putting a intake gasket on my drillpress table as fit to size, added runners n log, clamped in place by press, being carefull to have angle an spacing right. an tackwelded. This will need cleaning up both inside the tubes and outside for flow an looks. At this point its all open and fairly EZ to get into for grinding inside for flow were log an runner come together. I had not tryed to be real close when cutting holes in the log for port runner and carb runners so there would be less change of me missing the match up,an leves enough metal to get a good weld. In a perfect would you may fit your hole better then me,I'll just grind to fit after welded.

Getting inside the tubes for clean up is best done before too much is welded together. Cleaning up the inside were the tubes come together with drill n eaterbit. Trying to smooth out the flow some.
