Thanks Mike.
I've got some good news to report. No the truck isn't done but my wife did sign our home loan contracts last thursday and we officially purchased the house! I got home Friday from Wichita and we went and purchased a new fridge and stove, plus refurrbed washer and drier. Took it over Friday night. Then on Saturday we moved 80% of the stuff and Sunday we took the rest. I haven't moved any garage stuff and I don't know when I'll get to that. I have to put a fence up and fix up the deck on the back of the house before I get into the garage let alone to finishing any trucks. We had to do some repairs on the new place since it was a foreclosure, nothing major luckily. I'll get some pics up once we have everything put away or atleast neatly stashed. Haha
Congratulations! Glad to hear that things went smoothly, and that you're mostly in the new place. I expect that the kids are stoked!
Congrats from me too!!
I wish I could come up with some "snappy" words of wisdom to make you smile.. but, I'm at a loss right now, Just know that "the Gang" here wish you and the family all the best!
Thanks Roger and Mike! The kids are stoked for sure! We picked up Misha Sunday night and they have been wearing her out! Now to get everything put away and get the fence up. I'll get some pics up later.
This weekend I'm going to move this truck to our house so I can tinker on it at home. Boy, I haven't been able to do this for a long time. I haven't had a shop at home since I was in high school! Today I'm picking up some equal and then I'll mount the 33's back on the steel wheels. I also got my new valve cover back. Man, hydro dipping may be another bad addiction...........
Cool. Glad to see the old Longhorn getting some attention. Coolest old Chevy truck I've seen in a long time.
We had a threat of severe weather here over the weekend that included tornados and large hail. Seeing how I have no insurance on this truck I made it a priority to get this truck home in the new garage on Saturday. This way it is protected, and also so I can work on it at home and be spending more time at home rather than at the shop. (Wife's idea) I also did get my old steelies put on. It's a good thing I decided to stay with the 33's. It wouldn't have went in the garage with 35s. I had to let the air out of the rear bags to get it in there as it is.
Here it is in the garage. I'm not sure how many of you remember how far the rear tires stuck out on this thing when I had the 18s on it, but these look much better due to the extra 1" off set these particular rear wheels have. The D80 is much wider than the D60 that was in this truck so it was hard to find a wheel to bring the tires back in. I just got lucky on these 2 wheels.
pretty snug fit!
It should work out nice, having all these toys at home! Will you actually get some work done now?
On the hydro dipping - how were the letters kept out of the pattern? or did you paint them after the dip?
Welcome to your new house, now make it a home.
