I could get the pan off with the motor in the car but they had told me to put RTV on the back of the seal so I dont think I'll be able to roll it out from under the crank. I can honestly say I've neve heard of anyone requesting RTV for a main seal! I'm not saying it isn't done nor it was or wasn't recommended.. I just haven't heard that one yet. The rear seal on my FE390 fit loose. It filled the void but wasn't snug like I would've preferred. I did put a dab of RTV on the seal end.. "just because" it made me feel better!

I think you could drop the pan and remove the seal with the motor in place.. depends on how much RTV was used to "glue" it in.. I'll cross my fingers and eat some ice cream for you!
