No it would not be out of spite but since I have 6 other ford products the chevy is the bastard in the fleet and it would make sense to power it like the rest so I could use the spare parts in stock, its probably why some use chevy motors in their vehicles. When it gets the suspension upgrade this winter it will have a ford bolt pattern so I can switch wheels between my vehicles,I like the stovebolt sixes but if something should happen to it I have a extra 302 roller cam shortblock in the garage that would be cheaper to go through then the 235 plus there are no sbc or bbc parts anywhere on my property. I think this thread is getting hyjacked so this will be my last response other then to what was asked in the first place

The reason people use the sbc is bang for the buck and everyone and their brother sells parts for them.
If you build a sbc you may just have hundreds of dollars left over to spend on gas.

    A 302 is a great idea if its a 69 Z motor....

At one point of my life that would have made me Puke....

Do what you want, but you might want to install a lock on the hood..

That might have been the case 25 years ago but with the 5.0 mustang the sbf is about as cheap to build as a sbc, when building a motor the machine work should be the same for any V8 with only the parts being a little higher but with a little shopping any motor could be built reasonable unless its a exotic very low production motor. I know nothing about the small block mopar but it cant be too far from the others by now.

Have you ever priced a timing chain cover for a sbf?

Ya, go tell that to the gazillion of T, A, Deuce, and every other year of Ford coupe, roadster, sedan, or cabriolet running around with the 350/350 chebbie combo in it!!!!

Still looking for a decent (if they ever made one decent) late 80's or early 90's Vette to fill the underhood area with a Blue Oval Beast!!!!!

The price of building a small block Ford used to be an issue, but that's not it at all anymore....and with the 4.6 and 5.4 OHC and DOHC engines putting an ez 300 or more horse to the ground with minimal mods, chebbie had better wake up and come up with a modern replacement for the old sbc or they're gonna be really lagging behind in popularity and performance in the years to come..... Pushrods and carbs are eventually going to be dinosaurs and Ford definitely has a BIG head start on the new technologies and their availability to the average Hot Rodder at an affordable price.....Not putting the chebbies down, just an observation on what I see happening.

    Not again, still....

I don't really care what anyone runs for a combination of car, engine, and driveline..... Just an observation that the new technology offers both performance and economy.....Hard to get that with pushrods and a carb regardless of who's factory it came out of.....

I have two or three in the shed and who would want a shinney one for a sbc since you cant see much of it with the waterpump on.
