Shawnlee28,you forgot about the LS6 in a Chevelle and the GNX Regal both of which where faster in the 1/4 mile than any Ford. Originally Posted by shawnlee28 Originally Posted by shawnlee28

The big difference was you could get the LS6 Chevelle or the GNX Regal very easily and for the AC Cobra you would have to wait a long time.
Some of the engines you talk about are not very common.
Are you still laughing now ?? And are you still confused ??

While I don't necessarily disagree with your comments about those two GM car, you must not have been around in real time for the Cobra. There wasn't much of a wait at all, at least in the major markets. In fact, I remember seeing new 427 Cobras on dealer show room floors a full year after production stopped. It actually took a few years before the "mania" took hold. Originally Posted by erik erikson Originally Posted by erik eriksonYour Uncle Bob, Senior Geezer Curmudgeon

How in the world do you expect them to get enough down force on the rear wheels so they get maximum traction if they do not have the big spoiler?? Oh wait they have front wheel drive don't they. Originally Posted by thesals Originally Posted by thesals The Zoo Keeper

the 396 is one of my favorite chevy motors, and the 283 b/c i own one so i have to like it. but if i had my pic between a chevy 427 and a ford 427 i would take the ford anyday, mainly because you dotn see as many ford 427 at a car show, you can pretty much bet that at any given show you go to there is gonna be at least one 427 vette or chevelle or something, i just sick of seeing the same car over and over they are all the same, ill have mine served in Ford Blue
 Thanks

i'm biased to the ford 427s, they're really good powerful motors, but not too common anymore.... they all got raced to the ground and scrapped...if you can find one they're a good motor though.... but you can always get a 351 stroked out the a 427, those are supposed to be a pretty wicked motor too, the only problem with those are that they cost over $12k to buildjust because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day

im just partial to ford FE i have no interest in any other ford motor, i would rather have a chevy, i cant stand 5.0's i went to fun ford weekend one day, we brought a 1967 Fairlane with a 406 tri power motor swapped in. every other car at the drag strip that day was a 5.0 fox body mustang, literally, there were a few other cars, i think there was a 69 mach 1 and a 64 fairlane with a 351 but other than that, out of some 500 cars that were there they were mostly 5.0 fox bodies, i understand why people build them, they are cheap, they go fast, and parts are cheap and plentiful. im just sick of seeing them everywhere. all the kids at my highschool love fox bodies, i also think they are great cars and have respect for them, but everyone has one, this explains my love of the FE, its just diffrent, everyone at the drag strip and carshows around here has either a small block ford or chevy. i just like to be diffrent.....i should have been born 35 years earlier hahaHonda Motor= 1.6L

Yeah................then you could be part of the crowd that whines about the popularity of the ubiquitous small block Chev! Originally Posted by tyler Originally Posted by tyler
